Start ‘Em/ Sit ‘Em for Week Three

Start ‘Em

Darren Sproles

Who would have imagined that Darren Sproles would have more total fantasy points than LeSean McCoy at any point this season? The new addition to the Eagles’ back field has been an absolute monster through the first two games of the season. For those of you who started him last weekend hoping he could reproduce his numbers from the first week you made out big time. Sproles compile 178 total yards and found the end zone against the Colts’ defense. You should continue to ride this hot hand through week three. Sproles will be taking on a Washington Redskins defense that has not faced a high powered offense yet. More than likely the Eagles will be able to get ahead early in the game. Then they will rely on the combination of Sproles and McCoy to run out the clock.

Julian Edelman is looking even better than he did last season.

Julian Edelman

Edelman has completely taken over as Tom Brady’s go-to receiver. He has posted double digit fantasy point totals in each of his first two games this season. The fact that he found the end zone last weekend against the Minnesota Vikings is a great sign. The Patriots are facing the Oakland Raiders this weekend. The Raiders have not been able to stop anyone so far this season. There is no way they will be able to match up with the Patriots. Edelman is primed for a very good game.

 Chris Ivory

Chris Ivory is a bit of a surprise player this season. He has scored and posted double digit fantasy point totals in each of his first two games despite sharing carries with Chris Johnson. The Jets may be forced to play their week three matchup against the Chicago Bears without wide receiver Eric Decker. If this is the case, the team will be forced to rely on its running game. Chris Ivory looks to be the guy they turn to in the red zone, so he the most appealing fantasy option in the Jets’ backfield right now. The Chicago Bears have proven they are unable to stop the run. Ivory is an appealing flex starter this week and could even see second running back type numbers.

Sit ‘Em

 Rashad Jennings

Rashad Jennings was one of the most popular sleeper running back during the offseason. So far the Giants’ workhorse has performed well. However, this may not be the week to have him in the lineup. The Giants will be taking on the much improved Houston Texans. The Texans’ defense, especially the front seven, has been over achieving so far.

 C.J. Spiller

C.J. Spiller looks like he has returned to form. The Bills’ running back was dominant in week two against the Miami Dolphins. A big reason Spiller’s value is increasing from his disappointing 2013 campaign is that the Bills are trying to get the ball in his hands in whatever way they can. Unfortunately, he still has not scored a rushing touchdown yet this season. It appears the team is still set on giving the majority of handoff to Fred Jackson. This weekend the Bills are going to face the San Diego Chargers. Yes, the same San Diego Chargers’ team that just beat the reign Super Bowl Champions. The Bills look pretty good this season, but they do not look good enough to outdo San Diego’s defense.

Michael Crabtree may be a quality wide receiver, but betting against Patrick Peterson is never a good decision.

Michael Crabtree

Michael Crabtree and the 49ers are going up against the Arizona Cardinals this weekend. The Cardinals defense has picked up right where it left off in 2013. Crabtree will be forced to matchup with Patrick Peterson who may very well be the best one on one cornerback in the NFL. Another factor likely to affect Crabtree’s performance is the injury to Vernon Davis. Davis more than likely will see the field, but his speed will be limited. This means the Cardinals’ secondary will be able to pay even more attention to Crabtree. This is going to be an Anquan Boldin day.
