Start ‘Em

Jeremy Maclin is primed for a big season in 2014. It all starts week one against the Jaguars.

Jeremy Maclin’s first game as the number one wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles comes against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Nick Foles will definitely be trying to get Maclin the ball early and often in this game. The Eagles try to build a big lead early in the game. It is not hard to imagine Maclin finding the end zone in this outing.

Mark Ingram vs. Atlanta

Mark Ingram showed some great things in the preseason. It appears he is going to be the main ball carrier for the Saints this season. He will more than likely see all of his action on early downs and then come out in passing situations. However, this may be good enough to put up a couple of fantasy points. The Falcons have a poor front seven and gave up tons of fantasy points on the ground last season. Ingram should be able to carve them up. If the Saints end up getting ahead early, expect them to use Ingram to run time off the clock.

Frank Gore @ Dallas

Expect gore to put up great numbers against Dallas' poor defense.

Expect gore to put up great numbers against Dallas’ poor defense.

A lot of people are on the fence on Frank Gore. This is one game where you need to have him in the starting lineup. The Cowboys were the worst defense in the league last season. They could not stop the ground game at all. The Boys will start the season without their star middle linebacker Sean Lee and will be without All Pro Demarcus Ware for the first time since he was drafted. With all the talk about how the 49ers have vastly improved their wide receivers, people are forgetting about Gore. Gore is the staple of the 49ers’ offense. This is looking like it could turn into a 100 yard day for the veteran.

Sit ‘Em

San Francisco 49ers’ Team Defense

The 49ers defense is going to take on the Cowboys’ high powered offense this weekend. Anytime the Cowboys play, lots of points are scored. The Niners are already hurting for someone to step up and fill the voids left behind by some All Pro players. The 49ers may have one of the most dominant defenses in the league, but this matchup is too tough and too early. If it were later in the season, it would be a better option. This defense just has not had enough time to come together yet.

Charles Clay vs. New England

If there is one team that gives the Dolphins problems it is the New England Patriots. Charles Clay was one of the tight ends who were drafted as a starter, but fantasy owners paired with another tight end who has the ability to start. This is definitely one game where those owners need to start their other guy. Clay may have all the potential in the world, but this is one game where struggles should be expected.

Jordy Nelson@ Seattle

The Seahawks' secondary is just too good to make fantasy owners feel comfortable starting Jordy Nelson in week one.

The Seahawks’ secondary is just too good to make fantasy owners feel comfortable starting Jordy Nelson in week one.

Normally it is always a good idea to start the number one wide receiver that is catching passes from Aaron Rodgers. However, this seems like a trap game. Nelson may be a star, but he will be going up against the best secondary in pro football. He will draw double coverage from the likes of Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, and Earl Thomas. With how high he was chosen in drafts, fantasy owners may be forced to start him if they do not have a good amount of depth at wide receiver. If you are one of these owners do not expect too much from him. If you can avoid starting him, it would be ideal.
