Fantasy Football Week 4 Waiver Wire Pick-ups

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

By Staff Writer Ryan Gerrity @RyanGerrity:

After week 3 of the regular season there has been some very big surprises.  Who would have thought at this point in the season the Giants would be 0-3 and the Jets would be 2-1? Not many.  There were also some very good fantasy performances by a lot of different players this week who many fantasy owners may need to take a look at.

1. Santonio Holmes, WR, New York Jets

Geno Smith has improved dramatically in the past three weeks as a rookie in the NFL, but having Holmes return from injury definitely helps the transition.  Holmes was targeted 10 times, and caught 5 of those targets for 154 yards and a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills.  If Smith and Holmes become more comfortable with each other this could be a dangerous fantasy combination.

2. Geno Smith, QB, New York Jets

I know we just talked about a Jet in Holmes at #1, but Smith is a close #2 right now.  There are a lot of fantasy quarterbacks right now who are disappointing a lot of owners and Smith could be the answer.  Against the Bills secondary, Smith threw for 331 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Don’t forget to mention that he also ran in for a touchdown as he looks more and more comfortable each week he is under center in the NFL.

3. Nate Burleson, WR, Detroit Lions

Matthew Stafford and the Lions beat the Washington Redskins this week and Burleson had a big impact on the game.  Calvin Johnson drew a lot of attention as usual and Burleson took advantage of that.  Stafford targeted him 9 times and he caught 6 passes for 119 yards.  So far this season he has 19 receptions which is very good especially for a PPR league, and even in standard leagues he is being productive.

4. Jordan Cameron, TE, Cleveland Browns        jordancameron

The Browns shocked the Vikings with a big win this week as Jordan Cameron impressed everyone around the NFL with his game that he had on Sunday.  Cameron caught 6 passes for 66 yards, but the most shocking stat was his 3 touchdowns that he snagged in.  Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer had a big game throwing the ball, but Jordan Cameron stole the show and should continue to be a consistent target in the passing game.

5.  Kansas City Chiefs D/ST

The Chiefs dominated the line of scrimmage against the Eagles this last week and made it look easy.  They caused 5 sacks and 5 takeaways against Michael Vick and the Eagles.  Which gives them a total of 14 sacks and 19 forced turnovers so far this season.  And who do they take on next week? The disappointing New York Giants at home, whose offensive line allowed pressure and sacks all game long last week against a average Carolina Panthers pass rush.
