Fantasy Football Injury Report

By Guest Writer Allen Yates:

One thing that all fantasy players should pay attention to is the injury report on big name players and key players that are vital to teams defenses.

QB:        tonyromo

Geno Smith – Smith has been nursing his ankle injury he sustained in preseason, however it doesn’t seem like it is hampering his production.

Tony Romo – Romo injured his ribs against the Giants in the season opener. He doesn’t appear to show any problems with his ribs in his last game versus the Chiefs. It is however, something to keep an eye on if he is your starting QB.

RB:

Le’Veon Bell – Bell has a foot injury and has not participated in practice. His timetable is still up in the air for those owners who are waiting for him to become a feature back in Pittsburgh.

Maurice Jones-Drew – Jones-Drew has what is being reported as a tendon strain in his ankle. He was limited to just 10 carries, and is a question to play next week against the potent Seattle Seahawks defense. If you have a back up running back it may be smart to start him in place of Jones-Drew next week.

Jamal Charles – Charles has been a bit dinged up during the first two weeks of the season but hasn’t missed much action. He is nursing a quad injury but was productive against the Cowboys so it doesn’t look like it will affect him next Sunday.

Arian Foster – Foster is still nursing the calf injury, however it doesn’t seem like its affecting his production as he touched pay dirt against the titans. He hasn’t broke 20 carries yet, his carries could potentially go up when he is fully healthy.

Shane Vereen – Vereen will be out until at least week 11 with a wrist injury suffered against the Bills in week one.

WR:

Santonio Holmes – Holmes has a foot injury which seemed to affect his burst out of cuts while running routes last Thursday versus the Patriots. It doesn’t appear that it will keep him from seeing action, however his production may dwindle due to this nagging injury.

Danny Amendola – Amendola has a tear of his adductor muscle in his hip. The injury may require a surgery along the lines of a sports hernia. A time table has not been set for his return.

Roddy White – White is still nursing a high ankle sprain that has made him see limited snaps thus far this season. In turn, his production has went down because of it. White isn’t the kind of guy to sit out, so he plans to play through it unless doctors tell him other wise. Play it by ear with White, depending on how much he practices will determine when he is fully heathy.

Julio Jones – Jones is suffering from a knee injury, but doesn’t seem to have slowed down the big play receiver. Jones posted huge numbers last week, so his status for next week should be a go to start in all leagues.

Dez Bryant – Bryant has a foot injury, but it did not hamper him in any way last week against the Chiefs. Look for Dez to be a go for next week.

Larry Fitzgerald – Fitz aggravated his hamstring injury last week and only caught two passes for just 33 yards before sitting out the rest of the contest. Although Larry says there in no question he will play versus the Saints, he will be limited in practice and a question to make it through next Sundays contest.

TE:

Vernon Davis – Davis missed the end of the fourth quarter of Sundays game versus the Seahawks with a hamstring injury. Davis had a rather disappointing outing after posting two touchdowns, and 98 yards in week 1. Keep an eye on Vernons status as the week progresses.

Rob Gronkowski – Gronk is still nursing the back/forearm injury that has caused him to miss the whole preseason. No definite date has been set for his return, but it does appear that he in nearing a return in the coming weeks.
