Big close to season propels Temple Edge Quincy Roche up draft boards

NFL Draft News

Fanspeak posted this tweet on Nov. 12:

Temple edge rusher Quincy Roche has done nothing but improve his draft stock since then.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound redshirt junior finished the season on a tear. After that Nov. 12 tweet, Roche had 3 sacks vs. Tulane, 1.5 against Cincinnati and 2 more against Connecticut, giving him 10 in his final four games and 13 for the season.

Roche also had 18 tackles for loss, including 6 against Tulane, and 44 tackles.

The Tulane game, in particular, stands out, as he compiled 12 tackles, 6 TFLs, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.

For his efforts, Roche was recently named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

It’s unknown if Roche is considering leaving school early. Either way, scouts have taken notice.

Walter Football reports in its latest NFL Hot Press report that several teams have given Roche a third-round grade. Although a bit undersized, team evaluators told Walter Football that they think he’ll grow in size and strength, adding that they love his “initial explosion off the snap.”

“… Roche could rise if he works out well,” the report says. “There are a few issues that keep teams from grading him in the early rounds, and the most cited one is lower body stiffness. They feel there is a lack of lower body strength and believe he doesn’t play hard all the time.”

Roche is currently ranked as the No. 156 prospect by Fanspeak.
