Is Utah State QB Jordan Love the next Patrick Mahomes?

NFL Draft News
Jordan Love

Athletically speaking, Jordan Love just looks the part.

And there were times the past few seasons when the Utah State quarterback looked like a sure-fire top-15 pick.

But then you have to factor in his 61.9 percent completion percentage and his 20-17 touchdown-to-interception ratio this year.

Still, the 6-foot-4, 224-pound junior was expected to wow evaluators at the recently completed NFL Scouting Combine, and he didn’t disappoint.

In fact, one head coach had the highest of praise for Love.

From NFL Media’s Kimberly Jones, who recounted her conversations with draft evaluators:

“… The pre-workout predictions about Utah State’s Jordan Love absolutely came true. ‘We’re going to watch him throw, and we’re going to fall in love with him.’”

“Well, they did. One head coach said he saw Love as a ‘poor man’s (Patrick) Mahomes.’”

The coach, Jones said, is a tough grader.

She said another evaluator raved about Love’s leadership.

“Another evaluator predicted that Love will be beloved in his NFL locker room and will quickly exhibit leadership, much like Josh Allen has done in Buffalo. Having observed Josh Allen in that setting, that serves as very high praise for Love, whose stock rose in Indy,” Jones wrote.

Love is currently the No. 23 overall prospect in the latest Fanspeak-Steve big board.
