Senior Bowl Day 2 Recap: Don’t overlook N.C. State’s Jason Strowbridge, OU’s Neville Gallimore

Below is a highlight of the second day of Senior Bowl practices from Shoup.

Day 2 of Senior Bowl practices is in the books, and Wednesday’s practices saw impressive performances by defensive lineman Jason Strowbridge of N.C. State and Neville Gallimore of Oklahoma.

Of the two, Gallimore (6-2, 304) is the higher-ranked prospect in the latest Fanspeak-Steve big board, as he’s ranked No. 56 overall, which would put him near the bottom of the second round.

But Strowbridge is gaining quickly, at least in the eyes of NFL draft analysts. At 6-foot-4, 267 pounds, Strowbridge can play either strong side defensive end or kick inside to the three-technique during passing downs.

His athleticism is on full display during practices – and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. One analyst, Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline, said Strowbridge was so athletic that he looked like a safety during cone drills. Likewise, Fanspeak’s Shoup pointed out Strowbridge’s quick feet during DL drills.

Gallimore, meanwhile, was “the most dominant DL or Edge in 1-on-1s,” Shoup tweeted after an “easy win” vs. Washington center Nick Harris.

Shoup also praised Arkansas’ McTelvin Agim.

The top-rated defensive lineman at the Senior Bowl, South Carolina’s Javon Kinlaw (6-5, 315), left practice early with an apparent leg injury suffered during team drills, Shoup reports.

Love looks sharp

Oregon’s Justin Herbert continues to be the best quarterback during practices, but Utah State’s Jordan Love has had a nice couple of days, too.  He’s shown “nice touch and anticipation.” Herbert, meanwhile, was “clearly the best QB in 1 on 1 drills.”

Love is currently ranked as the No. 29 overall prospect in the latest Fanspeak-Steve big board.

OL stand out during 1-on-1 drills

A pair of offensive linemen are making a push for Day 2 consideration in Temple center Matt Hennessy and Kansas offensive tackle Hakeem Adeniji. Hennessy is the No. 4 center in the latest Fanspeak-Steve big board and No. 73 prospect overall, which would put him somewhere in the middle of the third round. Adeniji, meanwhile, has seen his stock rise in recent months and is playing guard during practices. The two were the best offensive linemen during Tuesday’s 1-on-1 drills, while “Adeniji’s footwork stood out.”
