ASU WR Brandon Aiyuk, Auburn OT Prince Tega Wanogho among several players who received medical flags at Senior Bowl

If you were hoping to see how Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk or Auburn offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho would fare during Saturday’s Senior Bowl, then you came away disappointed as the two were among five players who were held out of practices and the game after being flagged for medical issues.

The other players include California safety Ashtyn Davis, Utah defensive lineman Leki Fotu, Tennessee edge Darrell Taylor and Clemson offensive lineman Tremayne Anchrum.

Here’s what we know so far about those players:

• Aiyuk: According to SunDevilSource.com, Aiyuk had a minor hip issue but still plans on participating in Arizona State’s pro day and the NFL Draft Combine (Feb. 23-March 2).
• Davis: According to the Pewter Report, Davis was held out due to a groin injury that required surgery. Davis still plans on working out at the Combine.
• Wanogho: According to Al.com, Wanogho had been dealing with a knee injury all season, which caused him the medical flag at the Senior Bowl. Wanagho, who still plans on participating in the Combine, said he was told he had fluid in his knee and some swelling.
• Fotu: According to KOA’s Broncos Country Tonight, Fotu said he tore his calf during spring practices, missed the next three months, returned and played through lingering issues with the calf before tweaking it again “a couple of weeks ago.” He did not say whether he would participate in the Combine or at Utah’s Pro Day.
• Anchrum:  The exact nature of Anchrum’s injury is unknown, but various media reports said the offensive lineman dealt with nagging injuries much of the season.
• Taylor: According to Pro Football Network, Taylor has been dealing with a left leg injury since last summer.

A handful of other players were injured during practice or the game or were suffering from lingering injuries. Those players include South Carolina DL Javon Kinlaw, USC WR Michael Pittman Jr. (ligament strain in foot), Penn State LB Cam Brown (undisclosed minor injury), Auburn edge Marlon Davidson (ankle injury), Clemson OG John Simpson (ankle), Notre Dame safety Alohi Gilman (hamstring strain), Texas Tech OT Terrence Steele (unknown injury) and St. John’s OL Ben Bartch (unknown injury).

Kinlaw got banged up during practices and was eventually held out as he dealt with minor tendinitis in one of his knees, according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The injury isn’t serious.

In addition, several players accepted invites but didn’t participate in the game – mostly due to injuries – including Utah running back Zack Moss, South Carolina wide receiver Bryan Edwards, Louisiana-Lafayette guard Robert Hunt, Notre Dame defensive end Khalid Kareem, Oregon linebacker Troy Dye, TCU cornerback Jeff Gladney, Ohio State cornerback Damon Arnette, Utah safety Julian Blackmon and Texas safety Brandon Jones.
