Report: Scouts concerned about Alabama edge rusher Terrell Lewis’ injury history

The injury history of redshirt junior Terrell Lewis is well-chronicled, but the Alabama edge rusher still managed to play in almost every game this past season, finishing second on the team in sacks (6.0) and tackles for loss (11.5).

And while he didn’t record a tackle in the Senior Bowl, Lewis looked dominant at times during practice.

“That dude is unique,” Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy said, via The Montgomery Advertiser. “Terrell Lewis is almost impossible to give a player comp for, because he’s got that long stringy body but then he’s got Mike Tyson hands. Those long guys can’t generate power well, but this dude is so explosive. … Talent-wise, shoot, he’s a Top-15 pick.”

Still, Lewis’ injury history is hard to ignore. How he checks out medical-wise at the upcoming Scouting Combine (Feb. 23-March 2) will be crucial to his draft stock.

“Alabama pass-rusher Terrell Lewis is one of my favorite players in this class to watch, but already teams are worrying about the medicals for a guy who had at least two surgeries in college,” said The Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller in his latest scouting notebook.

“I say ‘at least’ because medicals from college players are protected under HIPAA rules, so they’re only available to the media if a player tells us or a team leaks them — and that’s becoming less common.

Miller says Lewis could fall in the draft because of his medical history.

Lewis is currently the No. 41 overall prospect in the latest Fanspeak-Steve big board.
