Predicting the Redskins Inactives For Week 11

Redskins Personnel Washington Commanders

QB Rex Grossman:

-This is of course the least surprising inactive, though Josh LeRibeus and Fred Davis are pretty much automatic inactives as well. With Grossman though it’s actually not a slight as most 3rd string quarterbacks aren’t active barring an injury.

OG Josh LeRibeus:

-LeRibeus looks to still be well in the dog house and it is doubtful he is active any time soon. With each week this former top 75 selection is looking like a bigger and bigger bust. The fact that he’s not even in consideration for a starting job is bad enough, but to be inactive this much in his career is pretty embarrassing for a 3rd round pick.

NT Chris Neild:

-Against the Eagles the Redskins don’t figure to be in their base package too often, meaning the need for 3 defensive linemen at a time will be minimal. Now Stephen Bowen has been banged up this week so perhaps he would sit over Neild, but if Bowen can go Neild is going to be the one listed as inactive. The interesting thing to watch is if the Redskins will consider going with just 4 defensive linemen if Bowen can’t go to keep another safety active (Gumbs).

S Jose Gumbs:

-The Redskins pretty much need to keep a safety inactive, and with Gumbs dealing with an ankle injury he’s the guy who is likely to be inactive. This will put more pressure on Bacarri Rambo and E.J. Biggers versus the Eagles high powered attack, but it’s not like the Redskins want to trot a guy out there with a bad ankle either.

TE Fred Davis:

-Fred Davis may keep complaining about not playing, but the reality is he hasn’t done anything to prove that he deserves playing time. When he was healthy earlier in the year, he was ineffective (not shocking for a player coming off an Achilles injury), and now that he’s healthy he’s been clearly replaced by Jordan Reed. Davis isn’t an effective blocker so he’s not going to pass up Logan Paulsen (or Niles Paul) and he can’t play special teams like Niles Paul. Barring an injury Davis probably has played his final game as a Redskin.

WR Aldrick Robinson:

-If Nick Williams is inactive someone else is going to have to sit. Evan Royster could be an option, but does the team only want two healthy active running backs? I think Robinson is the best option, he doesn’t really contribute on special teams. Yes the Redskins like running Robinson deep a couple times a game, but he really doesn’t offer much from an every down perspective. The team is more likely to keep Morgan active given his ability to block and that he’s still a more consistent receiving option than Robinson.

LB Brandon Jenkins:

-It’s going to be really tough for Jenkins to get an active spot with Rob Jackson and Darryl Tapp out there healthy. Perhaps later in the year if the Redskins are out of the playoff hunt we could see some more of Jenkins, but right now he’s inactive.
