Road to the Super Bowl: The Ones to Watch

NFL Steve O Speak

The road to the Super Bowl always brings about epic encounters. This year, we see the teams vye for supremacy in Super Bowl L. NFL odds are set to fluctuate with uncertainty among pundits as to who will be in the final at the end of the season. Who will take out the crown? We take a look at the contenders below.

New England Patriots

Currently leading the AFC division, the New England Patriots are looking strong this season after they went 10-0 following their 20-13 win over the Buffalo Bills. Now 10-1, the 2014 winners of the AFC and Super Bowl XLIX in 2014 will be heavy favorites to reach the Super Bowl L under the leadership of former Super Bowl MVP and team quarterback Tom Brady. Every season he starts makes the Patriots a serious contender for the Super Bowl and with him at the helm; they have won their division 12 times.

The team continues to be a dominant force and they have added to their talent pool. Should the team get healthy and be consistent; they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Below are highlights from their game against the Buffalo Bills.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks won the NFC division in 2014 and the Super Bowl in 2013. The team also appeared in Super Bowl XLIX, but lost to the New England Patriots 28-24. The team can shake-off the previous season’s loss and focus on the road ahead. During the offseason, they would have looked at their weaknesses and seek to rebound with a win at Super Bowl L. The team recently triumphed over long-time rivals San Francisco 49ers, which boosts their prospects to take out the division and secure a playoff position leading up to the Super Bowl.

Green Bay Packers

Their last Super Bowl win was in 2010, although they have been dominant in the NFC division by producing back-to-back division wins and playoff appearances since 2011. The team has enough firepower to take out the Super Bowl in the Aaron Rodgers era, however the team faces stiff competition from the Seahawks who are also favored to win. Should the team beef up their defense and leverage the magic that Rodgers can produce to turn yards into winning touchdowns, the Packers should be serious contenders for Super Bowl L.

Highlights from their most recent game can be seen in the video below.

Indianapolis Colts

This team has more of an outside chance to contest Super Bowl L. They have appeared in the last three playoffs, but haven’t been victorious in a Super Bowl championship since 2006. NFL Media columnist Adam Schein has voiced his opinion that the Colts will appear in the final alongside the Green Bay Packers due to the talented quarterbacks the team possesses. That said; the team would need to ensure that their star quarterback remains healthy for the remainder of the season. Andrew Luck is currently out due to injury but is confident that he will be back to play before the season ends. With the team’s heavy dependence on its quarterback for victory, the road to the Super Bowl may see the team balancing on a tightrope.

The road to Super Bowl L will be interesting and exciting. Many pundits have already had conflicting views as to who will attend and win the Super Bowl. For last year’s finalists, if they continue with the consistency and dominance that they have shown so far in the season, it is likely that they will not only earn their place in the final, but secure another championship trophy as well.
