Redskins Weekly: Any more offseason moves?

Redskins Free Agents Washington Commanders

Another week and we keep waiting for some big news from the Redskins when it comes to free agency.  And it just ain’t happening.  If it was years ago we would be getting emails daily for Redskins Olivier Vernon and Malik Jackson jerseys.  But now the Giants are the new Redskins and the Redskins hopefully stay strong and use the draft to build.  They do have cap space and I think it would be smart to at least use some of it.  And I think they will.

We hear that Terrance Knighton may be back and that Anquan Boldin made a visit.  Knighton didn’t live up our hopes last season but the team stills has a void at the nose.  And to sit back and be forced to use a draft choice most likely a high one on nose tackle is not a position they should get into.  So Knighton coming back on another one year deal is not a bad call.  Because they need a veteran.

As for Boldin I don’t really know McCloughan’s reasoning for interest.  The team seems to have the top three receiver spots locked up but maybe they aren’t so sure on Pierre Garcon?  I don’t see much of any reason to swap these guys.  They could gain more cap space for this season but do they really need it?  Garcon has been a trooper and I hope to see him one more season.

*Editor’s note:  The Redskins have signed TE Vernon Davis to a one-year deal. Obviously a depth signing at this point in his career.

As for any other guys I still think they could be interested in Reggie Nelson I suppose.  Gruden said he was concerned about the secondary and he is the best guy left.  And I would be in favor for Nelson over bringing back Golson.  Or maybe a center like Stefen Winiewski but LeRibeus is back (kinda a shock) because the center position still seems to be an unknown.  Or possibly a veteran linebacker like Zach Brown of the Titans.  Gives them depth across the position.
