Dan Campbell Applauds Defense After Detroit Lions Edge Out Chicago Bears in Game Week 11 Win

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell was quick to applaud his defense after an impressive comeback win over the Chicago Bears at Ford Field in NFL Game Week 11, a victory that takes the team to an impressive 8-2 start to the season.

The Lions are looking good to make the postseason for the first time since 2016, and supporters who want to back their side to make a real impact this season with a bet can see more here about the best providers out there when it comes to NFL betting. Dan Campbell is certainly taking the Lions in the right direction. His first season in charge finished poorly, with Detroit completing a 3-13-1 campaign, but last season’s winning record campaign was their first for five years, and he truly has his side motoring in 2023.

The coach praised his defense following their comeback over the Bears, stating,

“We talked about it last night, but when you dig yourself in a hole with turnovers, one of the reasons we were able to win that too was our defense put out the fires,”

“That was four turnovers, and two of those in (our) territory. They did score (a touchdown) on one of them, but we did hold one to a field goal, got a takeaway on other one and we forced a punt on the very first one of the game.”

“If that doesn’t happen, any one of those (stops) don’t happen, we don’t get back in that,”

“I thought our defense did some really good things and that was the biggest part of that.” Campbell commented.

The Lions were 26-14 down with just 4:29 on the clock but then successfully scored two touchdowns in just under three minutes to turn the game in their favor.

Linebacker Alex Anzalone believes the defense is merely mirroring the mentality of their coach when it comes to their ability to dig in and turn things around;

“We just embody our head coach, we feed off him, we feed off what he preaches to us, and we’re all really bought in to how we operate and how we go about doing things,”

“At the end of the day we know we’re always in the fight with the talent we have on our team and the want-to we have on our team too. It really starts top down.” He concluded.

Next up for the Lions is a clash with the Green Bay Packers, which is the big Thanksgiving clash and led to a rather bizarre interview with Campbell about how he might rank the relevant seasonal dishes, to which he heartily responded;

“Must-have is ham,”

“I’m a big ham guy. I’m not a turkey guy. Unless it’s fried turkey, then I’m all for it. You know what? I am not a dressing fan. I am not a cranberry (sauce fan). I’ll throw that right out to the dogs straight off the plate and right onto the floor. Everything else is fair game. I’ll just load it up on top of each other. It’s a full stack.”

Campbell will certainly hope his side don’t make a meal of their match-up with the Packers, knowing a win over their NFC North rivals could prove key.
