Chelsea Have Claimed Their 2nd Champions League Trophy Having Beat Manchester City In The Final On The Weekend

Soccer Steve O Speak

The Champions League is always seen as the pinnacle of club football, and a trophy in which many player desires to get their hands on at some point in their career. When it comes to the end of May, we always look forward to the final in which this year was an all-English final which we saw Chelsea crown themselves as European Champions for the 2nd time, and since their last win back in 2012. This was a surprise but there was a small number of people who had been supported them for victory in the tournament, as they used the latest offers available, such as the ones listed at BetMGM Colorado. This is something that is now expected to continue, with punters now getting involved on the different markets that are available for the upcoming European championships, as excitement continues to build for the tournament.

Chelsea went into the final as underdogs, but certainly did play like underdogs as they seemed to be the team that looked more confident on the pitch and were certainly taking the attack to Man City. Chelsea looked threatening going forward and looked as if they were going to score frequently, especially in the first half. The fluid front three of Werner, Havertz and Mount caused all sorts of problems for the City defence as they couldn’t quite grasp who was playing where and how they were setting up.

A lot of scrutiny when it comes to City losing the final has gone to Pep Guardiola and mainly down to the tactics in which he set the team up with. Before the final had kicked off, Foden had only started one game in midfield, which he found to be alien and looked out hustled. Sterling also only started one out of six knockout games yet started the final, and Gundogan had only started one game all season as a lone 6 which were all viewed as a strange line-up for the final.

In essence though, the main reason why Chelsea was able to claim the win in the Champions League final was down to the man of the match, N’Golo Kante, who as always looked so impressive that it looked like there were three of him on the pitch – he was everywhere! Kante has become an inaugural part of this Chelsea team, and if he can go on and win the European Championships this summer, then the Ballon D’or looks almost certain for the Frenchman.
