The heavyweight division continues to flourish at present, with both Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua being at the forefront of this. Both hold the belts in the division and now look all but set to challenge each other, in which the winner will become the undisputed champion of the world and the first since Lennox Lewis around two decades ago.

The fight between the pair will almost certainly be the biggest fight in British boxing history and anticipation is already building ahead of the clash. It has been confirmed by Promoter Eddie Hearn that the pair have agreed on the terms for a two-fight deal, which means we are now one step closer to the huge heavyweight clash between the two rivals. Hearn also stated that venues and dates are now being looked at, with the pair first having to come through their next bouts.

Fury must first beat former WBC Champion Deontay Wilder, as part of their previous deal, with Wilder getting the rematch. However, it was a dominant performance from Fury back in December and he will again be expected to take the victory and further enhance is unbeaten record to date. Something that is proving a popular bet with fans using new customer offers for betfred, with Fury a strong favourite to again win the rematch. He was set to take on Wilder for the third time in July, but due to the current coronavirus pandemic this is now likely to be moved to the end of the year or even the early period of 2020. Fury now has a professional record of 30 wins, no losses and one draw, with the latter coming against Wilder in their first fight. This is why the 31 year old WBC champion is regarded by many as the leading heavyweight in the world at present.

Anthony Joshua on the other hand is the current IBO, WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion, following regaining all his titles after the shock loss to Mexican, Andy Ruiz Jr. This was also the only loss of his professional career for the Olympic Gold medal winner. Joshua now has a professional record of 23 wins and just one loss and is also regarded by many as the leading heavyweight in the division at present. He must first beat Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev in a defence, which would then set to him for this much anticipated clash. Joshua will be expected to gain the victory and will go in as the overwhelming favourite.

Both fighters now have a tough fight next, but each will start as the strong favourites to pick up the victory and set up the much anticipated clash between two of the greatest ever British heavyweights.
