Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz
Andy Ruiz Jr has now been named the replacement for the clash with Anthony Joshua, following the failed test of Jarrell Miller. The June 1st clash at Madison Square Garden will still be a fantastic occasion as Joshua makes his first appearance in America.
Joshua is as short as 1/16 for victory, and it will be a major shock were he to fail to continue his unbeaten record. This has also seen him prove a popular selection for punters using sportsbooks in Michigan. Ruiz is around 12/1 to pull of the shock victory, with his only loss coming against Joseph Parker, who is also the only fighter to have gone the distance with Joshua. Here we cover the credentials of each fighter.
Anthony Joshua at just 29 years of age has quickly established himself into the biggest name in the sport. This has seen him now ranked the leading heavyweight, in which he holds three of the four major championships. These being the IBF title since 2016, the WBA (Super) since 2017, and the WBO which he has held since 2018. The only one he still needs is held by Deontay Wilder, as all roads leads to their super fight.
Big things were expected of Joshua as be moved into the professional ranks in 2013, as he had previously landed the Super Heavyweight title at the home London Olympics the year previous. He now has a professional record of 22 wins unbeaten with 21 via knockout. This is a fight he will be expected to win and extend this record further.

His opponent is 29 year old Andres Ruiz Jr. He is an American professional boxer with an impressive professional record of 32 wins and 1 loss, with 21 via knockout. He has previously fought for a World title back in 2016 when unsuccessful. This will without a doubt be the biggest test of his career, but he does bring in a lot of experience, having finished his amateur career with a record of 105-5. This also saw him win two Mexican National Junior Olympic Gold medals, as well as picking up a World Ringside Heavyweight Championship title.
This scheduled bout is already gathering negative reactions from fans, as this does appear to be another easy opponent for Joshua. This includes a negative view on the fight from previous opponent and rival Dillian White, who believes Ruiz does not hit hard enough to trouble Joshua. This bout is likely to push Joshua further onto the World stage.
