Newspaperofrecord to contest Royal Ascot’s Coronation Stakes

Over the years Royal Ascot has been the hunting ground for the world’s best flat horses, as they look to get many of the overseas stars to travel over. Winx has long been a target, but it continues to look unlikely that she will head over. American trainer Wesley Ward always brings over a formidable team of stars and 2019 is set to be no different. However in the shape of Newspaperofrecord, it appears one of the most exciting American horses will also be travelled over.

The three year old is trained by a legend in Chad Brown, and is without a doubt one of the most exciting young American horses in training. The horse put on one of the starring performances at last year’s Breeders’ Cup, in running away with the Juvenile Fillies Turf. The performance really stole the show and is the key reason why her trainer is targeting her for Royal Ascot.

Her upcoming season is all being based around Royal Ascot, in which her reappearance will be delayed in order for her to be ready and peaking for the Coronation Stakes at the Royal meeting. Chad Brown has said this is likely to be on Kentucky Oaks day at Churchill Downs, which would be the perfect prep prior to travelling over. He also feels this is the right horse to travel with and must have a very serious chance of success. This is down to the fact she is very classy as well as being straightforward, so the travelling should not faze the horse. There is little doubt she will be the big hope of the horses travelling over for the meeting. She can also be supported at a general 4/1 for the race at present, and is likely to be a popular selection with those using offers on

Newspaperofrecord is unbeaten in her three career starts, this started by her running away with a two year old fillies turf maiden by 6 ¾ lengths. This was also the first indication that she was a very exciting horse, and she was also expected to win being sent off at odds of 6/4. This showed she had a tall reputation from the off. Following this she was stepped up to contest a Grade two and sent off at evens. She again quickened clear in the final furlong to win easily by 6 ½ lengths.

These performances were the key reason she was then made one of the shortest priced favourites of the 2018 Breeders’ Cup. Sent off at a shade of odds on she made all, and really showed her class in putting in possibly the most eye catching performance across the entire meeting. This saw her win by 6 ¾ lengths, so can she now remain unbeaten in the upcoming season and land the race at the Royal meeting?
