Maurizio Sarri reveals reason behind handshake snub with Guardiola
Due to his team’s poor form lately, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is said to be under pressure after accepting that he is unsure of his future with the London Club.
Following their 6-0 loss to Manchester City, the Chelsea boss claimed he did not spot Pep Guardiola after the final whistle as he move immediately for the Etihad tunnel.
After the humiliating 6-0 defeat the club – which betbrain.com offered best odds for – suffered on Sunday, Sarri claims his desperation to reach for the dressing room immediately was to blame for what looked like a handshake snub.
Speaking during the lost-match conference, Sarri said: “I didn’t see at that moment, but of course as usually I will go to say hello to him later, as usual.
“It was by chance because I wanted to go to the dressing room at that moment, and I didn’t see him.
“I don’t have a problem with Pep.”
Guardiola after being asked about the snub said: “He didn’t see me. I have a good relationship with him, no problem.”
The Chelsea team have succumbed to seven defeats in their last 21 games in all competitions with manager admitting that there is something wrong with the team and his future with the club being shaky.
Speaking to Sky Italia via myphonfootball, Sarri said: “My job is always at risk,”
“If the president [Roman Abramovich] calls, I’ll be happy, seeing as I never hear from him. To be honest, I don’t know what to expect.”
Sarri continued: “I’m surprised because at the beginning of the season we played better away than at home so I don’t know what has happened but at the moment we are in trouble.
“In the last three or four matches we were without a reaction from the first difficulty so we need to understand.
“It is difficult to describe our performance, it’s difficult also to understand. We started well but after four minutes we conceded a goal in a stupid way.”
There are no doubt that Chelsea has lost their hope of winning the title this term, and the Blues might need to start thinking of the upcoming window to bring in some couple of players to help reinforce their squad after they manage to land Christian Mate Pulisic who is said to start a new career in London next season.
