The Ronaldo factor as he equals 61 year club record at Juventus

He just cannot stop scoring and following his goal from the penalty spot in Juventus’s 3-0 win against Fiorentina, he equalled a 61 year old record at the club. This made him only the second newcomer to score 10 goals in their first 14 appearances for the Old Lady. A stunning return for a fantastic player. His impact has been evident at each club he has played for, and following his move away from the champions league winners Real Madrid, they have been struggling. They currently sit in 5th place, and five points off defending champions Barcelona. This is in stark comparison to Juventus, who following his move look even stronger this season.

Juventus are now looking for their 35th domestic title and eight in succession. They continue to be the dominating force of Italian football and are long odds on to extend on this. Juventus sit on 40 points following the opening 14 league games, having won 13 with 1 draw. Ronaldo has played a key role in this, so a league title will be expected. However they brought him in for the big money to help them land the champions league this season. They remain amongst the favourites, having already guaranteed progression to the knock out stages, despite the shock defeat to Manchester United.

Ronaldo has a vast number of both individual and team awards throughout his playing career. Not only is he a five time winner of the previously mentioned Ballon d’Or, but he also won the FIFA and FIFPro World Player of the year awards in 2008. Ronaldo was also named the best FIFA Men’s Player in both 2016 and 2017. These are just a small number of his individual achievements and to why he is one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.

Ronaldo is also a five time winner of the champions league,  having won one with Manchester United, before his four at Real Madrid, which included the previous three in succession. He would probably say however that his 2016 UEFA European Championship victory with Portugal is his greatest achievement considering they went into the tournament unfancied. Ronaldo’s success continues and he looks to further cement his footballing legacy.
