WEEKLY BLOGGER DEBATE – Answer Top 5 Sports Questions:

Steve O Speak

Thank you to John, Rob, Howard and Nolan for joining the Weekly Blogger Debate this week!  Now its your turn to answer the questions…

1.  Between the Giants & Patriots, which team will have the better 2012 season?

JOHN MANUEL:

I would say the Patriots because they will still probably win their division.  I think the Giants will be in more of a battle to win the NFC East.  And their schedule looks at this point to be tougher.

HOWARD TICKER:

I am going to say the Patriots. They have some key free agents but most if not all are expected to return. They also have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds. Giants I feel like will have a harder route to return.

ROB YUNICH – STORMING THE CREASE:

That’s a tough one… I’ll say the Patriots, only because they’ve shown more consistency in coming back after a Super Bowl loss. With that being said, the Giants are clearly improving and I wouldn’t be shocked if they have a better record in 2012 than in 2011.

NOLAN MUCCIARONE:

Probably the Patriots. I’m guessing that their division is easier and the Giants will probably implode.

2.  With Kobe Bryant just passing Shaq on all-time scoring list, where does Kobe rank as all-time greatest NBA player?

JOHN MANUEL:

Below Jordan, Kareem, Wilt, Blatche, and Magic.  In the same area as Bird, Duncan, Karl Malone, “Straight Buckets” Young, Shaq, and West.  Somewhere between 6-10 as of now.  I was joking about Blatche and Nick Young btw.

HOWARD TICKER:

I am going to agree with most NBA analyst and put him around 8.

ROB YUNICH – STORMING THE CREASE:

He’s up there, but it’s hard to quantify it beyond that. Because of his multiple titles with multiple teammates, as well as his leadership qualities and (mostly) spotless record off the court, he’s clearly a Hall of Famer and would make any top-50, maybe top-25.

NOLAN MUCCIARONE:

Kobe is just outside the Top-10 in my book. Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlin, Bob Cousy, Michael Jordan, Lew Alcindor, Karl Malone, Oscar Robertson and John Stockton are ten players I’d put before Kobe.

3.  What team needs to make a move the most at the NHL Trade Deadline?

JOHN MANUEL:

Washington-  20 shots a game isn’t going to do it.  Especially with the uncertainty of Backstrom.  I said in a past debate to watch out for Iginla.  Caps have those extra high picks from Colorado.  Not sure if Semin in the final year of his contract has any worth.  If they don’t do something Teddy may be looking for two GMs this off season.

HOWARD TICKER:

I am not too sure but I feel like if the Devils made a splash they can surprise a lot of people in the playoffs.

ROB YUNICH – STORMING THE CREASE:

The Caps certainly are up there with teams needing major help, so I’m going with them. It still might be a tumultuous off-season for the red, white and blue, but they miraculously still have a shot at winning the Southeast Division.

NOLAN MUCCIARONE:

I have no idea. All I know is that the Blues are playing great and they don’t really need to make a move.

4. What NCAA Men’s Basketball current Top 10 team is most likely to fall from now until end of season?

JOHN MANUEL:

24 hours ago I would have said Duke.  But can’t now.  Right now I like all 10.  Kentucky, Ohio State, and Syracuse aren’t going anywhere. If I had to pick may be Baylor. Getting waxed at home in a big game is never good.  They could be a #3 seed that gets toppled quick.

HOWARD TICKER:

Baylor is fading fast, most the other teams I see staying where they are.

ROB YUNICH – STORMING THE CREASE:

I’m going with Baylor on this one. They’ve been overachieving all season and just got annihilated on their home floor by Kansas.

NOLAN MUCCIARONE:

Baylor, Missouri or Florida are probably the weakest teams in the Top-10. But I’m not so sure any of the three fall apart like that.

5.  What was your favorite Super Bowl XLVI commercial?

JOHN MANUEL:

Wasn’t a huge fan of any.  Probably go with Stern hosing down “Americas Got Talent” contestants.  My roommate always races to the computer to see the unrated godaddy.com or co unrated footage and gets fooled every Super Bowl.  So thats 2nd.

HOWARD TICKER:

I went back and watched the Seinfeld one becuase I missed it and it was hilarious. I also loved the Clint Eastwood speech

ROB YUNICH – STORMING THE CREASE:

To paraphrase Drew Carey from his days on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Super Bowl commercials are like Canada, they just don’t matter.

NOLAN MUCCIARONE:

The Doritos “Sling-Baby” … Only because the guy who made the commercial is the cousin of a long time friend of mine and he won $1 million for the commercial. Other than that, there really hasn’t been good commercials for roughly a decade now.
