DAILY DISCUSSION: JoePa’s Legacy

Steve O Speak

On Sunday Penn State, College Football and the sports world in general lost an iconic figure in Joe Paterno.  He lost his battle to lung cancer, which he was diagnosed with shortly after being dismissed from Penn State.

Joe Paterno - 1926-2012

His death comes so soon after the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal that hit Penn State in November.  You have to wonder if that took away some of Paterno’s will to fight?

Paterno left his mark on College Football, not just by his wins and championships, but by the people’s lives he influenced positively.

So with all the events that have transpired these last few months leading up to Paterno’s death, how will that affect his legacy?  How will Paterno be remembered?

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Paterno family during their difficult time.
