National Championship Game Open Thread:

Steve O Speak

I don’t think many people considered this match-up in their March Madness brackets, but that is what makes the NCAA Tournament so great. We have the 3 seed UConn Huskies vs the 8 seed Butler Bulldogs.

The Huskies were the 9th best team in the Big East during the regular season, but have played better than any team since the postseason began as they won 5 games in 5 days to win the Big East Tournament and have vanquished all comers in the NCAA Tournament as well. The Huskies are easily the more talented and athletic team in this game. It is hard to discount Kemba Walker and he probably will be the difference maker in this game. If Butler can slow him down then they can win, if not then the Huskies are cutting down the nets.

Don’t count out Butler entirely as they have knocked off their fair share of quality teams on their way to their 2nd NCAA Finals game. They do have the experience from last year’s run, and Matt Howard and Shelvin Mack are two very good ball players that the Huskies will need to neutralize.

In the end I’m guessing UConn is just too talented and I think they pull out a close one 82-78
