How It Works

2027 NFL Mock Draft Simulator: Full Tutorial

The 2027 NFL Mock Draft Simulator puts you in the chair of any NFL team for the draft in Washington, D.C. Run a one-round mock or all seven rounds, trade picks and NFL players with 31 computer teams that also deal with each other, draft against a dozen published big boards, and finish with a graded, shareable class. Every draft is free, and you do not need an account to start.

Quick Start

  1. Pick a team logo, or press Random Team. Premium members can control more than one team.
  2. Choose rounds, a big board, and a draft speed. Open Advanced Settings for the Draft Model, CPU to CPU Trades, and the premium sliders.
  3. Press Start Draft. Computer teams pick until you are on the clock.
  4. On the clock, open Scout for a shortlist and the odds each player is gone before your next pick, open the trade desk to build or answer a deal, or draft straight from Players.
  5. Watch the Tracker for live pick grades. Undo reverses your last turn.
  6. After the last pick, read your class grade on the Draft Hub, review every pick in Draft, share a card, or Redraft.

What's New in the 2027 Simulator

Last updated October 8, 2026.

  • October 7, 2026. Pos Value + Scarcity is the default draft model and CPU to CPU Trades runs at Realistic by default. Free accounts get one draft a day with each, plus one draft a day with NFL player trades and every trade type. A first visit to the draft room opens a short guided tour, and every trade dialog has a help button.
  • October 5, 2026. One results room at every screen size. The Draft Hub, the Draft review, and the phone Team report replace the old grade and overview pages. Every setup control's explanation was rewritten to match the engine.
  • October 1, 2026. The Fanspeak Balanced 2027 team needs were rebuilt from a blend of outside sources anchored on DraftTek's priorities. Trade Frequency was recalibrated so Normal and Aggressive are different drafts, and Realistic CPU to CPU Trades were tuned to a quieter pace.
  • September 28, 2026. Grading v2. Every pick carries a ledger of value, fit, and cost, and the class grade adds needs answered, needs left open, and the trade account. The live grades on the Tracker use the same ledger.
  • September 22, 2026. Two new engines. Pos Value + Scarcity prices every prospect for the team on the clock, and CPU to CPU Trades lets the 31 computer teams trade picks and NFL players with each other while the draft runs.
  • September 21, 2026. Trades v2. Future picks dated to the draft year, NFL players as trade assets, held players with a reason, an Ask Price that returns a binding quote, and team needs that move with the players.
  • September 16 to 18, 2026. The phone draft room was rebuilt around a fixed team band with Players, Tracker, and Picks pages, with an offer queue of up to five standing offers and Force Trade.

How the Setup Works

Select Your Teams

Click a team logo to draft from that team's 2027 slot. Each tile shows the team's first pick and how many picks it holds in the rounds you chose. Random Team picks one for you, and Edit Order lets you rearrange the pick order for the draft year. A free draft controls one team; Premium members can select several teams and run them all in the same draft.

Draft Year

2027 is the default. Switch to 2026, 2025, or 2024 to reload that cycle's team needs, prospect class, and pick order.

Rounds

Choose 1 to 7 rounds. The default is 3. One round is a quick scenario; seven is the full draft with day-three value picks.

Draft Speed

SettingDelay between picks
Slow2 seconds
Classic1 second
Fast0.5 seconds, the default
Very Fast0.1 seconds

Very Fast is unavailable while CPU to CPU Trades is on, because a trade needs its own moment on the Tracker. The speed drops to Fast.

CPU Strategy

The slider sets how much computer teams weigh team needs against player value. Lower settings favor value; higher settings favor needs. Classic opens at Balanced 60 and Pos Value + Scarcity opens at Favor Needs 70. You can move it any time after choosing a draft model.

Big Board

A big board ranks every 2027 prospect from 1 through the whole class. It orders the Players panel and anchors your pick grades. Fanspeak Consensus 2027 is the default, and the dropdown holds about a dozen published boards, including MDD Consensus 2027 and DraftTek. Browse, open, and build boards on the Big Boards page.

Build your own: reorder the class into a custom big board. Free accounts save up to 3 boards, Premium saves unlimited boards, and a saved board appears in the dropdown for every future draft.

Team Needs

Every team carries a weighted ladder of positions, and that ladder steers what computer teams chase and how your picks are graded. Drafts start on Fanspeak Balanced 2027. Veterans traded in or out during a draft move the ladder on both sides. Review every list, or build your own, on the Team Needs page.

Draft Model

The model every computer team drafts with.

  • Classic. Always free. Weighs board rank against team needs, then picks from a pool shaped by Draft Variance.
  • Pos Value + Scarcity. The default. Prices each prospect for the team on the clock: board value, need, positional value, how scarce the position is in the class, the upgrade over the team's current starter, and whether the team is contending or rebuilding. Free accounts get one Pos Value + Scarcity draft a day; Premium runs it in every draft.

CPU to CPU Trades

The 31 computer teams trade picks and NFL players with each other while the draft runs. Each deal lands on the Tracker with a written reason. Off stops them. Realistic, the default, keeps a quieter pace. Chaos trades more often with bigger packages and more veteran movement. Free accounts get one CPU to CPU Trades draft a day; Premium runs it in every draft.

Advanced Settings: Premium

Randomness, Draft Variance, Computer Big Board, and Trade Frequency unlock with Premium.

Randomness and Draft Variance. Randomness sets how strictly each computer team follows its own scores. Draft Variance sets how many of the best available prospects each team considers. Both default to 10.

SettingRandomnessDraft Variance
Low endStrict: teams follow their own scores closelyTight: half the normal candidate pool
10, the defaultClose to StrictAbout two thirds of the normal pool
High endChaotic: picks spread across more candidatesWild Card: twice the pool, surprises every round

The pool also grows with draft position: the top five picks weigh 8 names, picks 26 to 45 weigh 18, rounds 5 and 6 weigh 50, and round 7 weighs 70.

Computer Big Board. By default computer teams draft from your board. Assign them a different board, or set Random so each team drafts from its own analyst board, which creates real disagreement between teams.

Trade Frequency. Controls offers that come to you. It does not stop trades you propose or CPU to CPU Trades.

SettingWhat it controls
OffNo offers come to you
NormalOffers through round 4, with at least two in round 1 and one in round 2
AggressiveMore frequent offers, through round 6

During the Draft

Press Start Draft and the computer teams pick until you are on the clock. Your first visit opens a short guided tour, and you can replay it from the settings gear.

Players lists everyone still on the board in your big board's order, with position filters. Open a player for his Career, Draft Trends, and a Compare tab that sets him beside another prospect. Tracker shows every pick as it lands, with a live letter grade on each one and the needs each team still has. The team band at the top carries your needs, and the team menu shows every other team's.

Scout builds a shortlist for the team on the clock and shows the odds each player is gone before your next pick. Undo last turn reverses your last pick or trade. The settings gear holds draft speed, text size, tile size, animation, Reset draft, Return to setup, and Replay quick tour.

On a phone the room is three pages, Players, Tracker, and Picks, under a fixed team band, and each page keeps its own scroll position. Trades open as a sheet from the band.

Trades

One trade builder handles deals you propose and offers that come to you. Pick a partner from the team grid, read its needs and its direction, then stage what you get and what you send.

Assets. Current picks, future picks dated to the draft year, and NFL players. A player on a rookie deal or a team's starting quarterback is held, a deal has to fit under the receiving team's cap, and the builder tells you why a player is off the table. Trading a veteran moves team needs on both sides.

Ask Price. Ask any team what it wants for a pick, or what it would give for yours. The answer is a binding quote: accept it and the deal is done.

Offers. Computer teams call as your pick approaches. Up to five standing offers wait in the queue, each with accept, reject, and counter. Force Trade asks a team to call when you are on the clock.

CPU to CPU Trades keep the other 31 teams dealing with each other, so the pick order changes around you.

Pick values follow the Jimmy Johnson chart. Contenders value picks less and veterans more; rebuilding teams do the reverse.

Free accounts get one trade draft a day with NFL players and every trade type. The desk shows the pass, it resets daily, and Premium members trade in every draft.

Draft Grades

Every pick gets a letter and a written verdict from one ledger. The score starts at 82 and moves with three terms, held between 40 and 100.

  • Value. The slide against your big board, scaled to the slot's tolerance. A reach costs more at the top of round one than in round six.
  • Fit. Need on the team's ladder at the moment of the pick, positional value, best player available, the role the player steps into, and any better fit you passed on.
  • Cost. The balance of the trade that bought the slot, when one did.

In a Pos Value + Scarcity draft the ledger also credits positional scarcity, the upgrade over the current starter, and the team's posture. It is a notch, never a letter.

The class grade combines the pick scores, weighted by the slot's chart value, with needs answered, needs left open, and the trade account. Draft points stay a separate, uncapped number.

After the Draft

The Draft Hub opens with a headline, your class grade, and three shareable cards: Draft Grade, Team Needs, and The Next Chapter, a projected lineup with unit overalls built from the roster you drafted. Copy, download, or share any card.

Draft lists every pick, sorted by draft order, biggest slides, or biggest surprises, with team and position filters. Open a pick for its ledger, The Alternatives the community took in that slot, Who Drafts Him, and a Trade Evaluation when a deal was involved. On a phone the Team page carries the full report: the picks, needs answered, and the trades.

A free account can download the full draft. Results survive a phone refresh. Redraft returns you to setup, and the hub's Manage The Cap promo opens the salary cap simulator. See where every team's picks land across the community on Statistics, climb the Leaderboard, and follow the class on Draft HQ.

Tips for Better Drafts

Open Scout before every pick. The gone-before-your-next-pick odds tell you whether to take a player now or wait a round.

Ask before you offer. Ask Price returns a quote the team will honor, which beats guessing at a package.

Watch for positional runs. When three cornerbacks go in a row, the next tier slides. The Tracker shows the run as it happens.

Use Undo, then Redraft. Undo reverses a pick or a trade you regret. Redraft starts the same scenario again from setup.

2027 NFL Draft FAQ

When is the 2027 NFL Draft?

The 2027 NFL Draft runs Thursday, April 29 through Saturday, May 1, 2027, in Washington, D.C., with the main stage on the National Mall. The simulator works year-round, so you can run 2027 mocks before, during, and after the real event.

Is the 2027 simulator free?

Yes. Every draft is free: any team, all seven rounds, every published big board, live pick grades, and the full results hub. Free accounts also get one draft a day with NFL player trades and every trade type, one Pos Value + Scarcity draft a day, and one CPU to CPU Trades draft a day. Premium removes the daily limits, adds multi-team drafting, unlocks Randomness, Draft Variance, Computer Big Board, and Trade Frequency, allows unlimited custom big boards, and removes ads.

Can I trade in a free draft?

Yes. Free accounts get one trade draft a day. In that draft you can propose trades to any team, answer incoming offers, counter, ask a team for its price, and include NFL players. The pass resets daily, and Premium members trade in every draft.

Can computer teams trade with each other?

Yes. CPU to CPU Trades lets the 31 computer teams trade picks and NFL players with each other while the draft runs. Realistic keeps a quieter pace, and Chaos trades more often with bigger packages. Each deal shows up on the Tracker with a written reason. Free accounts get one CPU to CPU Trades draft a day.

What is the Pos Value + Scarcity draft model?

It is the draft model computer teams use by default. Classic weighs board rank against team needs. Pos Value + Scarcity adds positional value, how scarce the position is in the class, the upgrade over the team's current starter, and whether the team is contending or rebuilding. Free accounts get one Pos Value + Scarcity draft a day, and Classic is always free.

How are draft grades calculated?

Each pick starts at 82 and moves with three terms: value against the board, fit with the team's needs and roster, and the cost of any trade that bought the slot. The class grade combines the pick scores with needs answered, needs left open, and the trade account. Every grade comes with a written verdict and the terms that drove it.

How were the 2027 team needs determined?

Drafts start on Fanspeak Balanced 2027, rebuilt on October 1, 2026 from a blend anchored on DraftTek's numeric priorities, with structured national needs lists and a roster read of every team. Each team carries a weighted ladder of positions, and veterans traded in or out during a draft move that ladder. You can review every list, or build your own, on the Team Needs page.

Can I still run a 2026, 2025, or 2024 mock draft?

Yes. The Draft Year menu at the top of setup offers 2027, 2026, 2025, and 2024. Choosing a year reloads that cycle's team needs, prospect class, and pick order, which is useful for regrading what teams actually did.

Which 2027 prospects are in the simulator?

The default board is Fanspeak Consensus 2027. The dropdown also carries about a dozen published boards, including MDD Consensus 2027, DraftTek, and several analyst top-100 lists. Boards update through the 2026 college season. Free accounts can build and save 3 custom boards, and Premium is unlimited.
