  • Top notch pass rusher off the edge with a knack for making big plays behind the line of scrimmage.
  • Quick first step, with excellent closing burst.
  • Highly productive last two seasons, with 44 TFL and 28 sacks
  • Really good tackler, who is strong versus the run as well
  • Better in coverage than given credit for, can run with most tight ends.
  • Uses his hands well to fight off blockers.

  • Has a potential major injury concern with Spinal Stenosis which could be a long term concern
  • Is still relatively raw and will make some costly mistakes.
  • Can get lost in more complicated coverages or versus blocking schemes.
  • Will disappear at times in games.

Jones has the potential to be an elite pass rusher off the edge in either a 3-4 or 4-3 system as a rush linebacker. He is probably a more natural fit for the 3-4, where he should have more opportunities to blitz and impact the game at or behind the line of scrimmage. He should offer an immediate impact as a pass rusher who can get double digit sacks and not be a liability in either run or pass defense. The x-factor with him is the medical which could significantly influence how high you’d be willing to take him. It won’t push him off boards or out of the first round completely, but a negative report could mean that he is more of a 6-9 year player instead of a guy you can expect to be a fixture in the franchise for 12+ seasons. The new rookie salary scale could minimize the slide since the dollar investment isn’t as drastic.
