2012 NFL Draft SCOUTING REPORT – RB Trent Richardson:

Measurables:

Height:  5’11”

Weight:228

Pros:

  • Incredibly strong and tough runner, who breaks a ton of tackles
  • Has good speed and short area quickness for his size
  • Pretty good at catching the ball out of the backfield
  • Looks to be a true feature back at the next level
  • Good burst
  • Runs with balance, and rarely goes down on first contact
  • Very good vision and knows how to follow his blocks

Cons:

  • Has had some minor injury issues
  • Doesn’t have elite speed

Analysis:

Richardson is easily the top back in this class, and probably the best running back to come out since Adrian Peterson 5 years ago. His power and speed combo are pretty impressive, and his workhorse ability is rare in today’s game. While some teams will devalue him since the shelf life and value of running backs is more limited, he’s good enough to be the exception to the rule. He should be a top 10 pick, and should vastly improve whatever team lands him.
