1. With all the talks of potential trades, which team do you think will make the BOLDEST move on Draft night?
Will someone trade up for Ryan Tannehill?
The Philadelphia Eagles. They have extra picks and a coach who needs to win. Plus, the GM and President want that coach around so they will help him
The Eagles have never been shy about moving up and they have 2 2nd round picks. They love Fletcher Cox, but he won’t fall to them at 15. He probably won’t go past 9 to Carolina. Jacksonville at 7 is desperate to move down. They give up a 2nd, move up 8 spots to 7 and take Cox.
I predict that the Oakland Raiders will trade away all of their picks in the 2013 draft in order to move up 3 spots in the 5th round of this year’s draft. The Raiders may not be smart, but they’re definitely bold.
I’m going to go bold here and say that the Kansas City Chiefs make the move to jump up and get Ryan Tannehill.
2. What player do you think will have the biggest fall on Draft night?
First thought Janoris Jenkins since many teams will have him completely off their draft board, but I think someone will jump at his talent. Only takes one team. So, its Dontari Poe. Workouts put him near the top 10 but teams are wary that he took plays off. Visions of Fat Albert laying on Fedex Field vs. Philadelphia that Monday night. Justin Blackmon maybe? Seems like WRs fall sometimes.
Some sources say Riley Reiff is a player that the media is higher on than the NFL, much like Bryan Bulaga in 2010. Bulaga was a consensus top 10 pick on draft day, but fell to 23 to Green Bay. Many have Reiff 10 to Buffalo, but I don’t think he’ll go there and I think Arizona could pass as well. He could even get all the way to Detroit at 23.
Devon Still. Some experts have predicted that Still may be taken in the first 15 picks. I just don’t see it. He’s big, but he just doesn’t play as aggressively as he should. I could easily see him dropping to the mid 2nd round.
I think Vontaze Burfict is going to have a tremendous fall as well, but I don’t think anyone is going to be surprised when that happens, so I won’t pick him here.
I think Dontari Poe once thought to be a top 10 or 15 pick will fall to the bottom of the round.
3. What player will have the biggest rise on Draft night?
Small moves but surprises- Trent Richardson goes 3 after Vikings trade pick to probably Browns or Bucs. His teammate Mark Barron goes in top 10 after battle between Philly and Dallas.
Chandler Jones is a prospect who was a 2nd round prospect earlier this month, but several teams in the teens reportedly love him, including the Jets at 16, San Diego at 18, and Chicago at 19. He probably won’t make it out of the top 20. Stephon Gilmore is another riser who looks like a likely top-10 pick, either 7 to Jacksonville, 9 to Carolina, or 10 to Buffalo.
Janoris Jenkins. There are a lot of decent cornerbacks in this year’s draft, but not many great ones. I won’t be surprised to see Jenkins off the board in the first half of the 1st round.
I’ll say Mark Barron, he’s obviously a talent but given his injury and some missed time I thought he was more of a pick for the mid-late 20’s, but he could go top 15.
4. Regardless of team’s need OR draft position, if you could pick any 1 player you wish could wear your team’s colors this year, which player would it be?
Melvin Ingram is Steve's favorite player in the Draft this year.
Andrew Luck. RG3 close though. If I did have a QB it would be Trent Richardson. Guy is a lock to be a star for 7-10 years and can make your offense top 10-15 that whole time period.
I think Whitney Mercilus of Illinois will be the top pass rusher in this class when all is said and done. I think he could have an Aldon Smith like impact as a rookie and my Patriots really need an elite pass rusher. I also like David DeCastro and Luke Kuechly. Both of once in a decade prospects at their respective positions.
Luke Kuechly. The Steelers are all about linebackers, and Kuechly is a special linebacker. He doesn’t look very intimidating, but the kid is an absolute tackling machine. He made more tackles this year than some linebackers make during their entire college career. He’d be a great replacement for James Farrior in the middle of the Steelers’ defense.
Melvin Ingram- to me Melvin Ingram is the guy I want on my team, given his work ethic, leadership and production. I think he is a star and will make a huge impact at the next level.
5. Who hugs Roger Goodell the longest or tightest?
Hopefully Dontari Poe and he breaks a couple ribs in doing it.
Michael Floyd is a good kid who has been through a lot. 12 months ago he was almost kicked off the Notre Dame football team for alcohol issues and the NFL seemed a long way away. However, he worked incredibly hard, got himself clean, got himself into great shape, had a phenomenal senior year and could go in the top 15. He’ll be incredibly happy when his dream finally comes true, although there are a lot of good choices for this question.
Dontari Poe. Poe is so big that I anticipate that he’ll accidentally squeeze Roger Goodell into unconsciousness.
I’ll give you two: I think Trent Richardson holds the tightest and Stephon Gilmore the longest.
