Rapid Reaction: Round 2- Picks 41-48
41. Carolina Panthers (via St. Louis Rams): WR Devin Funchess
-This was an odd move to trade up, Funchess is a big target, but the Panthers probably could have used OL or DE help. Funchess and Benjamin do give Cam Newton two big receivers to dominate in the red zone.
42. Atlanta Falcons: CB Jalen Collins
-The Falcons needed help on defense and Collins adds size and physicality to their secondary.
43. Houston Texans (via Cleveland Browns): ILB Benardrick McKinney
-The Texans keep building up their defense and get a tackling machine in McKinney. McKinney might have some questions in coverage, but overall this guy can play and he adds another piece to one of the better defenses in the league.
44. New Orleans Saints: OLB Hau’oli Kikaha
-Kikaha is one of my favorite edge rushers in this class, this is a bit high for him, but he is relentless in his pursuit of the quarterback. He should do a nice job bolstering the Saints pass rush.
45. Minnesota Vikings: ILB Eric Kendricks
-Another great pick for Mike Zimmer’s defense. Kendricks is a guy who flies around the field and will quickly become a favorite in Minnesota.
46. San Francisco 49ers: S Jaquiski Tartt
-This is a bit of a head scratcher here. Tartt is rated high by some guys, but he’s extremely raw. I’m not sure why you take him this high when there are serious questions about his cover ability. His ultimate position may be a nickle linebacker which means this is way too high to select a guy like that.
47. Philadelphia Eagles (via Miami Dolphins): S/CB Eric Rowe
-Excellent pick here for the Eagles secondary which was in need of an overhaul and Rowe is an incredible athlete and can play either spot. He’s probably better as a safety but could fit in either spot.
48. San Diego Chargers: ILB Denzel Perryman
-The Chargers took Te’o a couple years ago, but go back to the ILB well to pair Perryman with him. Perryman is a little undersized, but he can play and shows good instincts.
