Rapid Reaction: Picks 17-20: 2015 1st Round Grades

Draft Grades NFL Draft

17. San Francisco 49ers (via San Diego Chargers): DL Arik Armstead

-The 49ers make a small trade back and still get the guy they were probably targeting at 15. Armstead is a raw talent, but his upside is immense. He could be a star 5 tech DE in a couple of years, and help replace Justin Smith when he retires.

Grade: A (including the trade)

18. Kansas City Chiefs: CB Marcus Peters

-Peters was one of the top corners in the draft and should fit nicely into the Chiefs defensive scheme. He’s got good size and can be physical on the outside. The only real concern here is his off the field stuff which helped get him kicked off Washington’s team.

Grade: B+

19. Cleveland Browns: OL Cameron Erving

-Erving kicked inside to center this past year for FSU and had a great year for the Seminoles. He’s a versatile OL who can play any position and will probably start out at RT or G for the Browns with Alex Mack coming back next year. Cleveland should have one of the best offensive lines in the league and this pick protects them going forward if Alex Mack leaves. Erving I think is a great value pick here and makes the Browns a better football team this year.

Grade: A+

20. Philadelphia Eagles: WR Nelson Agholor

-The Eagles weren’t able to land Marcus Mariota so they decided to bolster their offensive weapons with Agholor here. This is maybe a reach here, but he should fit well into Chip Kelly’s offense. Agholor is an excellent route runner with really good speed. He should help fill the void of Jeremy Maclin who left in free agency.

Grade: B-
