Rapid Reaction: Picks 13-16: 2015 1st Round Grades
13. New Orleans Saints: OT Andrus Peat
-The Saints maybe made a slight reach here with Peat here, as he had fallen in some people’s eyes, but he’s still one of the top OT’s in this draft. The best part about this pick is it helps Drew Brees stay upright while his career winds down which is the best chance the Saints have to make a run.
14. Miami Dolphins: WR DeVante Parker
–DeVante Parker was widely considered the 3rd receiver available and a top 15 or top 20 talent so it’s a fit from a value perspective. The Dolphins revamped their WR corps this offseason and that continues with this Parker selection. The best news if Miami doesn’t have to force Parker to be “that guy” as a rookie with adding Greg Jennings and Kenny Stills to go along with Jarvis Landry from a year ago.
15. San Diego Chargers (via San Francisco 49ers): RB Melvin Gordon
-The Chargers jumped up two spots to land the 2nd running back in the draft in the explosive Melvin Gordon. While 1st round running backs are more of a rarity it’s easy to see what the Chargers liked in Gordon. He’s an explosive runner, who should add big play ability to the Chargers. Assuming the Chargers keep Rivers, their offense should put up a lot of points this year now having a running threat like Gordon.
16. Houston Texans: CB Kevin Johnson
-The Texans add a corner here who has length and a lot of upside. Houston is smart to keep building their defense up and let them carry the team. Johnson could be inconsistent at times, but overall this a good solid pick for them.
