New England Patriots Team Needs for 2013 NFL Draft
1. Defensive Tackle
2. Defensive End
3. Safety
4. Wide receiver
5. Cornerback
6. Offensive Tackle
While the Patriots improved on defense this past season, they still have a ways to go. Vince Wilfork remains a force in the middle of the Patriots defense, but he’s nearing the end of his career, and could use some help inside, making defensive tackle an early round consideration. Also along the defensive line, the selection of Chandler Jones last year helped bolster their pass rush, but they can use another viable edge threat.
The Patriots secondary made good strides last year, but could still use an influx of new talent. Their safety positions lack a top level starter and New England could draft one of the many high upside safeties in this class. At cornerback, the Patriots resigned both Kyle Arrington and Aquib Talib, but still use some additional help. Also Talib, their best corner, is only signed for one more year, making this a long-term need as well.
Though the Patriots signed Danny Amendola to replace Wes Welker, their releasing of Brandon Lloyd still leaves them with another void at receiver. New England could desperately use a true deep threat to take the top off the defense for Tom Brady.
