Pros:

• Versatile TE, capable of lining up inline, in the slot, split out wide, or even in the backfield in an H-back role.
• Very good receiving tight end with natural hands
• Has really good speed and is capable of stretching the field and getting yards after the catch.
• Excellent frame that gives him an advantage against shorter linebackers and safeties
• Great all-around athlete finished in the top 5 in every TE workout drill at Combine
• Smart tight end who will work back to his quarterback when he’s in trouble
• Physical when he has the ball, doesn’t go down easily
• Showed big improvement as a blocker in 2012

Cons:

• Doesn’t always secure the ball as tightly as he should, could be a problem at the next level.
• Needs to be a more consistent route runner, was good in college but needs to get even better
• Wasn’t much of a blocker before last year, at the next level he’ll need to continue to improve.

Overall:

Eifert has separated himself as the top tight end on the draft board and should hear his name called in the first round. While he may never be a dominant blocker he should be good enough to be considered a two-way tight end. His best attributes though are with his receiving abilities, which appear to be at the top level. He should be quickly able to become a major target for a team and is among the safest pass catchers (receiver or tight end) a team can invest in this Draft.
