Updated 2013 NFL Mock Draft Round 1 | Round 1 Picks 17-32 | Round 2 | Round 3 | Round 4 |
Picks: 1-16, 17-32 Also Check Out Fanspeak’s NFL Draft Blog and Big Board
1. Kansas City Chiefs- QB Geno Smith, WVU
–Geno Smith has moved to the top of the quarterback rankings and that is likely where the Chiefs will go.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars- OLB Jarvis Jones-
-Jacksonville could use more additional pass rushers, and Jones is elite, making this a pretty simple pick.
3. Tennessee Titans- DE Bjoren Werner, FSU
-The Titans need to think defense here, especially how to get more pressure on the quarterback.
4. Oakland Raiders- QB Matt Barkley, USC
-Their current USC quarterback hasn’t been too effective, but that won’t stop them from drafting Barkley who is a long term answer to replace Carcon Palmer..
5. Cleveland Browns- OLB Barkevious Mingo, LSU
-The Buccaneers have a huge hole at right tackle, which they could fill by drafting Joeckel for LT and moving Donald Penn over to the right side.
6. Indianapolis Colts- DT Jonathan Hankins, Ohio State
-The Colts 3-4 defense needs a guy in the middle to disrupt things and that could be Hankins.
7. Seattle Seahawks- WR Keenan Allen, Cal
-Allen has moved up as the best receiver in this class, and would be a nice weapon for Russel Wilson.
8. Miami Dolphins- WR Robert Woods, USC
-Miami needs to serious invest in some weapons for Ryan Tannehill next season and would be wise to start in the first round.
9. St. Louis Rams- OT Jake Matthews, Texas A&M
-Jeff Fisher coached Bruce Matthews in Houston/Tennessee and happens to have a big need at offensive tackle, so drafting the HOF’s son makes perfect sense.
10. New Orleans Saints- DE Sam Montgomery, LSU
-The Saints defense is not generating enough of a pass rush, which is where a guy like Mingo can come in.
11. New York Jets- LB Manti Te’o, Notre Dame
-Bart Scott is beginning to fade, and Rex Ryan (assuming he’s still here) will look for a replacement. He can’t do much better than Te’o who has elite potential.
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M
-The Titans defensive line still could use some upgrades and Lotulelei is a steal outside of the top 10.
13. St. Louis Rams (via Washington)- S Eric Reid, LSU
-If the Rams can come out of this draft with a top safety and tackle it will be a huge success
14. Carolina Panthers- DT Kawann Short, Purdue
-The Panthers interior defensive line is not getting the job done, and is where the Panthers need to invest next season.
15. Buffalo Bills- WR Justin Hunter, Tennessee
-The Bills have some interesting receiver depth but could use a legitimate star next to Stevie Johnson.
16. Dallas Cowboys- G Chase Warmack, Alabama
-The Cowboys interior offensive line has been exposed this season and needs to be targeted next year.
