Updated 2013 NFL Mock Draft Round 1 | Round 1 Picks 17-32 | Round 2 | Round 3 | Round 4 |

Picks: 1-1617-32 Also Check Out Fanspeak’s NFL Draft Blog

1. Oakland Raiders: QB Geno Smith, WVU-

-I think the Raiders are the one team that would consider Matt Barkley over Geno Smith, but have to go with Smith here after the year he’s having. Oakland is desperate for a franchise quarterback, and that definitely looks like what they will find in Smith.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars: OLB Jarvis Jones, Georgia-

-Jacksonville could go offense here, but why not take an elite player like Jarvis Jones who could be a difference maker with his pass rushing ability.

3. Cleveland Browns: OLB Barkevious Mingo, LSU

-The Browns are building in the right direction and could go on either side of the ball here, but I think it will be tough to pass up a top pass rusher like Barkevious Mingo.

4. Kansas City Chiefs: QB Matt Barkley, USC

-The Chiefs need to replace Matt Cassel and Matt Barkley is without a doubt the best guy on the board. He’ s maybe never going to be elite, but should be very capable of big numbers. Given the weapons and offensive line the Chiefs have they just need a competent signal caller.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DE Bjoren Werner, FSU

–This might be slightly high to go offensive lineman here, and while they will consider a quarterback if Matt Barkley or Geno Smith fall, I don’t think they reach here. Werner is an impact pass rusher, which is something you need when facing the quarterbacks of the NFC South.

6. Indianapolis Colts: DT Jonathan Hankins, Ohio State

-Hankins is having a tremendous season, and would be a perfect fit in the middle of that Colts defense.

7. Seattle Seahawks: WR Robert Woods, USC

-It’s easy sometimes to mock USC players to Pete Carroll, but this one makes too much sense for it not to happen. The Seahawks could use another weapon on the outside, and Woods would be the perfect fit.

8. Miami Dolphins: WR Keenan Allen, Cal

Ryan Tannehill, has over 1,000 yards passing despite having probably the worst collection of pass catchers in the NFL. Adding a big play receiver like Keenan Allen is a must for them.

9. St. Louis Rams: S Eric Reid, LSU

-The Rams have done a great job rebuilding their secondary, but they are still a little weak at safety. Reid has elite safety talent, and should be an immediate upgrade.

10. New Orleans Saints: DE Jackson Jeffcoat, Texas

-The Saints need to do a better job at getting after the quarterback, which is exactly where a guy like Jackson Jeffcoat comes in.

11. New York Jets: QB Tyler Bray, Tennessee

-With the new rookie wage scale the Jets can afford to pay Mark Sanchez’s contract, and still draft his replacement. Bray is a bit inconsistent, but he’s got big upside.

12. Tennessee Titans: DT Star Lotulelei, Utah

-Star Lotulelei is a steal here, and would be a huge addition to the Titans defensive line. He excels against the run, which is not a bad thing when you are in a division with Foster and Jones-Drew.

13. St. Louis Rams (via Washington): OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M

-Rams need to get a tackle from the first round of the draft and luck out here as Joeckel is still on the board for them. He can immediately go on their blind side and boost their line play.

14. Carolina Panthers: WR Justin Hunter, Tennessee

Steve Smith is near the end of his career, and while Brandon LaFell is solid, adding another weapon for Cam Newton seems like a smart call. Defensive tackle or cornerback are also viable options here.

15. Buffalo Bills: LB Manti Te’o, Notre Dame

-Kelvin Shepard is a solid middle linebacker, but Manti Te’o should be a star, and the leader of this defense. And I don’t see how you can pass that up.

16. Dallas Cowboys: OLB Sam Montgomery, LSU

-It’s time to give DeMarcus Ware some help in getting after the quarterback, and Sam Montgomery is the best guy on the board.
