2012 NFL Draft Scouting Report – TE Coby Fleener
2012 NFL Draft Scouting Report – TE Coby Fleener:
Measurables:
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 247
Pros:
- Great size and frame
- Has nice long arms and big hands, which is a big plus in both the passing game and blocking
- Has good solid hands
- Runs crisp routes and gets in and out of his breaks quickly
- Good burst off the line, and has nice long speed
- Solid blocker
- Excellent red zone target, where his size creates major mismatches
Cons:
- Needs to show more consistency with his blocking
- Will have to answer questions about how much of his production is a result of Luck
Analysis:
Fleener is the top TE in this class, and has the prototypical size and speed of an elite TE. There are some questions about how his blocking will be against bigger/stronger competition, but I don’t think it should be a major worry. While Luck no doubt helped his numbers, Fleener would have been a highly productive TE on any team in the country. He has elite upside, and should offer an immediate impact.
