2012 NFL Scouting Combine Review: Running backs

Runningbacks who helped themselves at NFL Combine:
Lamar Miller:
Miller I thought had a really strong day, running a nice 40 time and looking good in positional drills. He showed very good speed and quickness, and should be no worse than a 2nd round pick.
LaMichael James:
James had to run a great 40 time, and he did just that running an unofficial 4.37. He might never be an every down guy, but he wasn’t as small and short as most people thought he’d be, so he looks to be able to contribute at a significant level.
Robert Turbin:
Turbin I thought had a really good day running an unofficial 4.4 time at 220 lbs is very impressive. He didn’t look as good in all the drills, but he runs with nice power.
Chris Rainey:
Rainey ran a very fast 40 time (though maybe slower than expectations), and looked really nice when asked to change directions. He was also the most natural back during the receiving drills. He won’t be an every down guy, but he can definitely find a role as a utility player.
David Wilson:
Wilson showcased very good speed and cutting ability and even showed some natural pass catching ability. Wilson led the way among backs in both the vertical and long jump drills as well.
Doug Martin:
Martin came in at over 220 lbs, and really had a nice combine. He ran well and paced the running backs with 28 bench press reps. Given his size, strength and speed he has a real chance to be an every down back and a 2nd round pick.
