NFL Draft

NFL Draftzone: Takes a look at AFC North and East team needs. He does a great job recognizing the top 5 needs for each team, and looks at some options for them with their first round picks.

Mocking The Draft Takes a look at the rumor that the NFLPA is talking about keeping players away from the combine. Dan Kadar makes a great argument about why this would be such a bad idea. From my opinion I think this is a test balloon by the NFLPA, and a bit of an empty threat. I understand that it is a negotiation process, but I don’t see how agents would follow through with this. Way too many prospects benefit form the combine, for it to make sense for agents to even consider this. Yes not having a combine would hurt the teams, but it would hurt the players more, and that is why this isn’t going to happen. Even the part about players holding out from going to the draft doesn’t make much sense. Yes it won’t affect draft stock too much, but it will affect those players as they try to sell their image. These are the players who are looking to sign multi-million dollar endorsement deals, which isn’t too easy to do if they don’t show up to all the pre-draft activities (or the draft itself). This was a nice try by the NFLPA, but its not going to happen.
