Alabama WR Henry Ruggs gets high-fives for hand size at NFL Combine
The wide receiver with the biggest hands was 6-foot-4, 230 pound Juwan Johnson of Oregon, who’s hands measured 10 4/8 inches. The receiver with the second-largest hands was 6-3, 225 pound Dezmon Patmon of Washington State who’s hands measured at 10 2/8 inches.
Then two players tied for the third-largest hands, and one of them was 6-1, 212 pound Donovan Peoples-Jones of Michigan. His hands measured 10 1/8 inches.
The player tied with Peoples-Jones?
That would be Alabama junior Henry Ruggs.
Ruggs is one of the smaller receivers at the Combine at 5-11, 188 pounds, so his hand size is both impressive and unexpected. Then again, it shouldn’t come in as a huge surprise, since Ruggs had the nation’s highest passer rating when targeted this season, according to Pro Football Focus.

As expected, Texas receiver Collin Johnson was the tallest receiver at the combine, measuring at 6-5 1/2, 222 pounds. His hand size, though, was among the smallest of any of the receivers at 9 inches. Penn State’s K.J. Hamler was the smallest receiver at 5-8 1/2, 178 pounds.
Six receivers had 80-plus inch wingspans, with Oregon’s Johnson (81 5/8 inches) again leading the way.
The tight ends also went through measurements on Monday.
Among the TE highlights:
- The top two TEs – Notre Dame’s Cole Kmet and Dayton’s Adam Trautman – have similar measurements. Kmet measured just under 6-6, 262 pounds while Trautman measured 6-5, 255 pounds. Kmet’s wingspan is 79 inches; Trautman’s wingspan is 78 inches.
- The shortest tight end is LSU’s Thaddeus Moss (6-1 7/8, 250); the tallest is Stanford’s Colby Parkinson (6-7, 252).
- LSU TE Stephen Sullivan put up above-average measurables at close to 6-5, 247 pounds, and his hand size and arm length also were above-average at 10 1/8 and 35 3/8, respectively. But it was his wingspan that wowed everyone, which, at 85 inches, is almost five inches longer than the second-biggest wingspan for tight ends.
