Washington QB Jacob Eason turning pro; Is he a first-rounder?
Statistics alone don’t do Washington quarterback Jacob Eason’s last game justice.
Eason, a redshirt junior, completed 22 of 32 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown in Washington’s 38-7 win over Boise State at the Dec. 21 Las Vegas Bowl.
Good numbers, for sure, but even better when you consider the changes Washington made to its offensive line after senior left tackle Trey Adams elected to skip the game to prepare for the draft.
As it turns out, it’ll have to serve as a final dress rehearsal for the former Georgia quarterback.
Eason announced on social media Thursday that he’s entering the 2020 NFL draft.

Eason began his career at Georgia before transferring to Washington last season and sitting out a year due to transfer rules. He completed 260 of 405 passes (64 percent) for 3,132 yards, 23 touchdowns and 8 INTs this season.
But that also includes a rough stretch later in the season that had some wondering whether Eason would be better served by staying in school another year.
“There are still big questions about Eason’s ability to stare down pressure and be a creative passer when things break down,” writes Yahoo Sports NFL draft analyst Eric Edholm.
And about the Utah, Oregon State and Colorado games? Eason completed 66-of-118 passes for 697 yards, 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions during that stretch. Edholm said Eason will have to answer for that, which marred an otherwise solid profile.
“… Eason at least got the arrow pointed back upward,” Edholm writes in his latest winners and losers bowl game report. “He’s blessed with elite physical tools and enough high-quality tape to entice an NFL team somewhere in the first 40 or so picks this April if he does come out.”
