Waiver Wire Pickups for Week Sixteen

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Harry Douglas

Typically Harry Douglas does not have much fantasy value; however there is one thing that immediately changes that. Whenever, Julio Jones or Roddy White is unable to play, Douglas takes over the position and normally excels. This past weekend, Douglas filled in for Jones and was able to tally 131 receiving yards. If Jones is unable to go again this weekend, Douglas becomes a very good flex option for those needing someone to fill in for a player with a tough matchup during their fantasy football playoffs.
Alfonso Smith

Alfonso Smith was forced in the 49ers’ starting role due to injuries to both Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde. Gore left the game against the Seahawks with a concussion and Hyde suffered a back injury. Hyde is undergoing x-rays later this week. Frank Gore still has to been cleared by the NFL to play. If neither of these backs areable to go Smith will be forced to carry the load against the San Diego Chargers. Even if only one of them are able to go, Smith still seems like a tempting high risk/ high reward play for those who are in desperate need or in deeper leagues. The 49ers are showing more and more as the season goes on that they are committed to getting more than one running back involved in the game.

Latavius Murray

It appears Latavius Murray is taking over the Raiders backfield. Last weekend against the Chiefs he managed to lead the Raiders’ backfield in yards from scrimmage for the second week in a row. He also touched the ball 17 times which is amazing considering the Raiders were down the entire game. Murray is a great option for those in keeper leagues. Jones-Drew is not getting any younger and the fantasy football community never knows when the team is going to finally give up on Darren McFadden.

Shonn Green

The high preseason hopes for Tennessee Titans’ rookie running back Bishop Sankey never flourished. After missing week fourteen, it appears Green is back at full strength. Last weekend he only managed to go for about 60 yards from scrimmage but he be given a solid workload this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He may not have too much value in keeper leagues because eventually the Titans will try to get Sankey to develop into the workhorse they originally thought he would be this year, but Green does seem like an appealing play this weekend.
