Fanspeak Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire Pick Ups Week 14
Playoff Race Begins
@RyanGerrity
1. Josh McCown, QB, Chicago Bears
During the past couple of weeks, McCown has consistently put up over 300 yards passing, and multiple touchdown passes. The status of Jay Cutler is still unknown, but even if he is out again this week McCown will put up big numbers. They face the struggling Dallas Cowboys secondary, and with Alshonn Jeffery and Brandon Marshall, he will be fine.
2. Ladarius Green, TE, San Diego Chargers
Since his emergence in the NFL in week 11, Green has been a consistent threat for Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense. He has had a touchdown reception in each of his last two games, and he has looked like the second coming of Antonio Gates. If he is available, he is a definite pick up this week for the playoff push.
3. Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona Cardinals
Palmer threw for almost 350 yards this week, and he added 3 touchdown passes to that. Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd have been very good options for him and have performed well. Palmer is a definite pick up if you have a quarterback who is struggling because he has been consistently over 300 yards and multiple touchdowns the past couple of weeks.
4. LaGarrette Blount, RB, New England Patriots
Blount ran for 44 yards and had a touchdown this week against the Houston Texans. A big reason for that is he led the Patriots in carries, which is a good reason to pick him up. Especially since we do not know if Stevan Ridley is out of the “dog house.”
5. Julian Edelman, WR, New England Patriots
In the past two weeks Edelman has become the “Welker” type of receiver for Tom Brady and the Patriots. He has caught at least 9 passes for at least 100 yards in the past 2 games. Edelman did not score a touchdown this week, but he did have 2 last week against the Broncos. This is the second week in a row that Edelman is on the waiver wire list, so if he is available add him to your line up.
6. Andre Holmes, WR, Oakland Raiders
This is a sleeper waiver wire pick up this week because Holmes is owned in less than 1% of fantasy leagues right now. On Thanksgiving Holmes caught 7 passes for 136 receiving yards against the Cowboys. Danarius Moore is the starting receiver in front of Holmes, but he is still working back from injury this week.
7. Oakland Raiders, D/ST
The Raiders defense has been very inconsistent this year as a fantasy defense, but this week is about the matchup. The Raiders are going to New York to take on the Jets who have been struggling a lot recently. The Jets are going to start Geno Smith again, but his leash will be short as Matt Simms could see some time. Either way this matchup is extremely favorable for the Raiders defense.
