Fanspeak Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire Pick Ups Week 9

1. Marvin Jones, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

No one saw Marvin Jones coming with a 4-touchdown performance this past week against the Jets.  The good news for the owners that pick up Jones is that A.J. Green is still going to get a lot of attention from all the teams they face. This will allow Jones to still get targets especially in the endzone.

2. Jake Locker, QB, Tennessee Titans

Locker had a bye in week 8, but he had a very good fantasy game against the 49ers in week 7.  Locker is a strategic pick up if you have a bye week for a quarterback because he is facing the St. Louis Rams, and than in week 10 the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has the potential to put up very good fantasy performances.

3. Andre Ellington, RB, Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals found their running back in Andre Ellington who is continuously proving himself as a fantasy running back.  He is becoming a consistent RB2, if not a RB1 for some of the deeper leagues. He’s on a bye this week, but good to have for the rest of the fantasy season.

4. Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Now that the Reggie Wayne is out for the rest of the year, DHB is going to have to step up as a consistent receiver.  Andrew Luck will look for him not only on deep passes, but in the short passing game as well.  Heyward-Bey’s targets should go up dramatically in the next couple of weeks.

5. Kenny Stills, WR, New Orleans Saints

In the past two games Stills has turned 6 receptions into 193 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He is only owned in about 9% of fantasy leagues right now, and he could be a good Flex player to play this upcoming week.

6. Percy Harvin, WR, Seattle Seahawks

Harvin is owned in about 34% of fantasy leagues right now, but he could be returning this week or next week.  He may be owned in your league, but if he isn’t he could have an immediate fantasy impact.

7. Oakland Raiders D/ST

The Raiders defense surprisingly has not been a terrible fantasy defense so far this year.  They have put up some good performances against the Redskins, Chargers, and Steelers last week.  Up next they take on a very defeated and beat Eagles team that will have Matt Barkley starting as their quarterback if Nick Foles cannot get healthy.

8. Dexter McCluster, WR, Kansas City Chiefs

This is my deep sleeper for Waiver Wire Pick Ups this week because he has not been a very productive fantasy receiver, especially in standard leagues.  However, the Chiefs schedule the second half of the year is a lot tougher, which means they are going to have to score more points.  McCluster is a very good slot receiver and will be targeted a lot the second half of the year, if Dwayne Bowe and Jamaal Charles are getting most of the attention of the defense.
