Fanspeak Fantasy Football: Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 6

Fantasy Football Start 'em Sit 'em

By Staff Writer Ryan Gerrity @RyanGerrity:

This week a lot of fantasy owners are going to be struggling to put together a lineup that they are satisfied with.  The teams that have bye weeks like the Falcons and Dolphins have players that owners have as usual locks.  Don’t forget to think about all the injuries that are affecting teams this week, especially Julio Jones and Michael Vick.

Start ‘Em:

1. Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles    IMG_2293

Michael Vick got injured last week, and will not play this week, but Foles looked very comfortable against the Giants.  Don’t forget the Eagles play the Buccaneers this week that have an average, at best, secondary.

2. Zac Stacy, RB, St. Louis Rams

On Tuesday, in my waiver wire pick up article, I mentioned Stacy and how he would be a great addition to a fantasy team this week.  Well I am also going to say start him because the Rams are having trouble developing their running game.  However Stacy has been able to gain positive yardage every time he touches the ball which means he will get more opportunities this week.

3. Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers take on the 29th best pass defense in the Vikings.  Ginn Jr. is the deep threat that Cam Newton loves to throw too.  I am expecting Newton to bounce back from last week’s poor performance, which will give Ginn Jr. more chances to use his speed downfield.

4. Lions D/ST

The Detroit Lions are facing the Cleveland Browns this week which is no easy task as the Browns have shown they can win.  I would not have the Lions on here if Hoyer did not get hurt, but with Brandon Weeden under center, and the Browns allowing the second most sacks this year it could be a big day for the Lions.

5. Terrance Williams, WR, Dallas Cowboys

The Washington Redskins secondary is very inconsistent when it comes to giving up big plays.  Williams had a couple huge plays last week, and having Witten and Bryant to take most of the attention Williams should have some favorable match-ups.

6. Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears

The Bears are taking on the New York Giants, whose secondary is riddled with injuries and is vulnerable to big plays.  Cutler will have receivers Marshall and Jeffrey that will get open, especially during the play action pass plays.  Cutler could have a huge game this week against the Giants.

Sit ‘Em:    elinew

1. Terrelle Pryor, QB, Oakland Raiders

Pryor had a career game against the Chargers last week, but this week could be a different story.  The Raiders are facing a difficult matchup with the Kansas Chiefs.  The Chiefs defense has been creating a lot of turnovers, and putting quarterbacks in difficult positions.  Expect the Chiefs to make life tough for Terrelle Pryor this week.

2. Austin Pettis, WR, St. Louis Rams

Even though Bradford is really targeting Pettis often the past couple of weeks, this week will be different.  The Rams are facing one of the best secondary’s in the NFL this year and it will continue this week.

3. Jared Cook, TE, St. Louis Rams

The same reasons for sitting Pettis are the reasons that I would sit Cook because they are facing the Texans.  The Texans are going to get a lot of pressure on Bradford and he is not going to be able to make the correct decisions under duress.

4. Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants

Manning is having a very difficult year this year and that trend is going to continue this week against the Bears.   In Chicago, with no confidence as a team, under pressure, Manning will make erratic decisions and throw interceptions.
