Waiver Wire Pick-ups for Week 2

After an incredible first week of the regular season for the NFL, fantasy owners are looking at the waiver wire.  The waiver wire is the place that great fantasy owners separate themselves from good fantasy owners.  Below are my top players that are most likely on the waiver wire for your fantasy football leagues.
 

1. Julian Edelman, WR, New England Patriots

This offseason most reports coming out of Patriots camp were about Danny Amendola, Kenbrell Thompkins, and Aaron Dobson and how they were going to fill the role of the departed Wes Welker.  Well Julian Edelman answered the call for everyone by having 7 receptions for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Edelman will continue to work well in the New England offense, and I expect him to be the most added player this week.

2.  Brian Hartline, WR, Miami Dolphins

The week 1 storyline for the Dolphins was how Mike Williams and Ryan Tannehill were going to play together.  Williams is the deep threat while Hartline showed that he was a possession receiver by catching the ball 9 times for 114 yards and a touchdown in week 1.  Hartline is most likely taken in all the PPR leagues, but he should continue this success next week against Indianapolis.

3.  Whoever The New York Giants Sign At Running Back This Week

After David Wilson’s 19 yard, 2 fumbles lost performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, the Giants made some calls to Free Agent running backs.  A familiar face in Brandon Jacobs, ex Denver Bronco Willis McGahee, and ex Jet Joe McKnight were all worked out by the Giants this week.  I think McGahee is the one likely to get the job because his style of running fits the Giants offense the best right now, and he is apparently in “great shape.” Whoever gets signed by the Giants this week I expect to have a impact in the running game against the Broncos next week.

4.  Julius Thomas, TE, Denver Broncos

With the amount of weapons that the Broncos and Peyton Manning have at their disposal, the Ravens seemed to have forgotten about Julius Thomas.  He torched the defending Super Bowl Champions with 5 receptions for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Having Thomas, Decker, and Welker on the outside gives Thomas the advantage against the linebackers that are going to have to match up against him on pass plays.  Thomas will be one of the most acquired players off the waiver wire this week, especially playing against a depleted Giants secondary this week.

5.  Joique Bell, RB, Detroit Lions

Reggie Bush and the Detroit Lions put up some monstrous offensive numbers in week 1 of the NFL regular season.  The most intriguing thing about the Lions though, Mikel LeShoure was non existent during the game, and Bell rushed for 25 yards, 2 touchdowns, and caught 5 passes for 67 yards.  They are not huge numbers for Bell, but in the eyes of the Lions, Bell is the back up running back for Reggie Bush and will continue to be involved in the high octane offense of the Detroit Lions the rest of the season.
