OVERALL LINEUP STRATEGY AND SUMMARY:
STEVE:
We’ve got two big games to target in the Bills vs Eagles and Texans vs Jaguars that both have some real shootout potential. I think these are games that we can stack up and target and are absolutely where we want to be spending a good portion of our salary cap. There are some individual spots or sides that could get interesting in some other games (Chiefs, Colts pass catchers, Browns RBs, etc.) but this is where I want to focus my line-ups. I will likely only play 5 QBs this week, the 4 from this game and Mahomes in a divisional bounce-back game as they try to get that offense right.
There are plenty of decent value spots both from a salary and ownership perspective at other positions. I like paying down a bit at RB this week, as I like more the situations for players like Ford, the Steelers backs, Stevenson, and Joe Mixon given their potential, match-up, and price. Kyren Williams or James Conner from that game could be interesting, but I don’t want to force it. I will overall be lower on the higher priced backs, including Taylor who is underpriced but might be in 35-45% of line-ups.
At WR outside of the top players from the key games I mentioned, I like some of the value from the Steelers in the hopes that the new OC change will jump-start the offense to at least average. I also think Shaheed could be interesting with no Michael Thomas in that match-up vs the Falcons. One higher-priced guy from a non-key game I like is Adam Thielen. He is not going to be owned despite a massive target share, and one of the best match-ups on the slate. If he racks up 10 for 110 and a TD at sub 2% ownership you will have made a chalk line-up completely unique and in the mix for a top prize.
It’s easy to like both the Patriots and Chiefs at defense this week, but it appears that ownership will follow them. I don’t mind paying up for the Browns in this game. Cleveland has the highest sack rate in the league, and they face the Broncos who are giving up the 4th highest % of sacks. It’s also unlikely that Denver can run on Cleveland, so there should be plenty of 3rd and long situations where they have to drop back to pass. The Browns secondary is also very good and makes a lot of big plays.
