DraftKings Strategy Survey – Classic Slate Week 3

Daily Fantasy

Every Saturday we’ll break down the DraftKings Class slate in this survey format between Steve and myself. Check out our favorite QB stacks, values, contrarian plays, fades, and more! You can always find all our Daily Fantasy content here!

We have another fun full Sunday slate on on DraftKings to tackle.  So we hope this helps your DraftKings strategy for week 3 in the NFL! Good luck!

TOP 3 QB STACKS YOU’RE PLAYING?

STEVE:

Herbert (Allen or Williams), Cousins (Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson), Trevor Lawrence (Ridley, Kirk)

MEG:

Herbert (Allen or Williams), Cousins (Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson), Tua (Tyreek Hill)

FAVORITE GAME STACK OUTSIDE OF CHARGERS/VIKINGS?

STEVE:

Jaguars-Texans

MEG:

I agree I like the Jaguars-Texans. But I also like Dolphins/Broncos and Lions/Falcons – but only to play Bijan Robinson with Goff/ASB and some combo of Reynolds LaPorta (assuming everyone is healthy). I know that game could be slow, but I think there is a lot of ceiling potential in those 3-5 players.

TOP 3 VALUE PLAYS (ANY POSITION)?

STEVE:

Gus Edwards, Nico Collins, Jayden Reed

MEG:

Tight Ends are where I’m going to save most – Sam LaPorta, Luke Musgrave, Durham Smythe, Cole Turner (more contrarian) can open up value for me. I also like Steve’s values of Gus Edwards, Nico Collins, Jayden Reed. I’ll add Tank Dell as another Texans’ cheap receiver.

I’ll add I’m intrigued with RB Craig Reynolds and Kendre Miller prices if you really want to jam stud receivers like Jefferson, T. Hill, etc.

TOP 3 CONTRARIAN PLAYS (ANY POSITION)?

STEVE:

Jordan Addison, Tyler Lockett, Gus Edwards

MEG:

Agree with Steve’s 3 and I’ll add all the cheap TEs I mentioned above look to be low-owned except for Smythe. Cole Turner (Logan Thomas OUT) looks especially low-owned. They may need a short passing game in potentially rainy conditions in Washington/MD Sunday.

TOP 3 FADES (10% OWNERSHIP OR HIGHER)?

STEVE:

Zack Moss, Jerome Ford, Michael Pittman

MEG:

Jerome Ford, Alexander Mattison, Zach Ertz

FAVORITE DEFENSE?

STEVE:

Titans

MEG:

Jets or Titans

OVERALL LINEUP STRATEGY FOR WEEK 1 AND SUMMARY:

STEVE:

So with major rain in the forecast for the Washington, Baltimore, and New York Jets games, I’m going to basically avoid those games on the full slate from a passing standpoint. I’ll play some of the running backs (and defenses), namely Brian Robinson and Gus Edwards, and maybe sprinkle in a TE here or there, but I just don’t want to be caught chasing these games that could end up being very low-scoring and sloppy.

The only game I feel great about being competitive is the Chargers/Vikings game which could end up looking like a Madden simulation if the defenses continue not to show up. Give me both QBs, the top 2 receivers for both teams, T.J. Hockenson, and Joshua Kelley from this game. I will avoid Alexander Mattison even though this is an incredible match-up. His ownership is projected to be too high, and there are just too many other good value plays on the slate.

Outside of that game, I’m just going to build stacks from teams in great spots and generally not worry about bringbacks, because we could see some ugly blowouts this week. I could see any of Dak, Lawrence, Mahomes, or Geno going off this week in potential blowouts, but I don’t need to force anyone from the other team.

I do think with the Jags-Texans game any of the Texans WR trio is cheap enough to warrant consideration, given their expected volume. Nico Collins is getting WR 1 usage and is priced way too low, he’s one of my favorite plays on the entire slate. I was considering Jared Goff earlier in the week, but it’s a bit troubling that both ASB and Josh Reynolds are banged up in practice. With the Falcons likely slowing the game down with the run, I’ll probably mainly avoid this game outside of Bijan and maybe some LaPorta hoping he breaks out with the receivers limited.

The Miami game has some potential weather as well that bears watching, but it is one that could be a sneaky shootout as well. I’ve enjoyed picking on the Titans’ pass defense the first two weeks, but this week they are actually my favorite defense to pick. I worry about the Browns bouncing back from that MNF loss and losing their star player. Watson is struggling, and I don’t know if he can take advantage of that thin Tennessee secondary.

MEG:

I think we all want to stack up the Chargers/Vikings game, especially with multiple games that have weather concerns. I am going to try to stack that game up in different ways and sometimes approach it by overstacking it, especially in smaller field tournaments.

The other strategy I like is true stars and scrubs and trying to jam in a Cousins or Tua stack and get all 3 of Jefferson, T. Hill, and K. Allen. You obviously have to punt at RB, TE. Flex and Defense, but its a strategy I’m going to try as well.

I’ll keep an eye on the “weather” games on the East Coast, especially want to make sure Miami conditions are fine to play Miami passing game. Ultimately, leaning heavily into the Chargers/Vikings game, but also finding the right low-owned players we mentioned and fading the right guys will be keys to the slate. I like our current targets for high-owned fades and low-owned contrarain plays.
