My Thoughts on the Baltimore Ravens transactions after their final Preseason game

Baltimore Ravens

First let me start by congratulating Justin Tucker for being named the starting kicker earlier in the week, it was very well deserved.

Two notable guys I like that the Ravens released but signed to their practice squad was Omar Brown and Anthony Allen. At safety, Omar Brown showed he is good at being in the right place at the right time. I expect to see him be on the 53 man roster the second someone in the Ravens secondary goes down. He had a very solid preseason. I liked that Anthony Allen got signed to the practice squad. He did not have a good preseason but he would be a good third back if someone got injured. Rainey clearly got deserved the third running back spot behind Rice and Pierce with his ability on special teams and catching the ball.

One surprise cut that I didn’t like was Curtis Painter. I thought for the most part he played well in the preseason but at times bad some poor decisions. I thought he was good enough to be the backup, but what do I know about quarterbacks, I’m a Jets fan.

Another cut they may miss is Logan Payne. He had some good plays in the preseason at wide receiver but there were many other guys who earned the spot before him. Receiver Tommy Streeter was also placed on injured reserved so they get to hold on to him.

Lastly I want to give credit where it is due and mention the players who made the team because of their solid preseason’s. Number one goes to Bobby Rainey who played like he could be the number two even but they will give that to Bernard Pierce who really wasn’t very impressive during the pre season but that was because of injuries. Another guy who absolutely killed it in the preseason was Deonte Thompson. Very glad he made the team. Shout out to Asa Jackson made the team as well.

Let’s see how the season plays out and if anyone will get cut during the season and replaced with one of the practice squad guys. First guy off that practice squad has got to be Omar Brown. He should be on that roster with this preseason.
