1. Kansas City- QB Geno Smith, WVU

-The Chiefs have to upgrade their quarterback position and Geno Smith is the surest thing in this draft class making this a fairly easy pick. Smith may not be as good of a prospect as Andrew Luck or RGIII, but if they put him in the right system he should have early success due to his maturity.

2. Jacksonville- DT Jonathan Hankins, Ohio State

-Jacksonville may be ready to close the book on Blaine Gabbert, but there isn’t another quarterback worthy of a top 5 pick. With the presence of Eugene Monroe at LT, that most likely makes this a defensive pick. They could go pass rusher, or could grab one of the two elite defensive tackles in this draft. I think Hankins has a slight edge, though it could go either way here.

3. Cleveland- OLB Jarvis Jones, Georgia

-The Browns offense may be lower ranked right now, but with adding Trent Richardson, Brandon Weeden, Josh Gorgon, Mitchell Schwartz last year I think we will see a defensive selection here. The Browns need to do a better job at getting after the quarterback, so Jarvis Jones makes a lot of sense with this pick. Stud defenders like Te’o and Lotulelei are possibilities as well, but it could be tough passing on Jones.

4.Carolina- DT Star Lotoulelei, Utah

-Carolina should take whatever defensive tackle is still on the board for them when they select. Lotoulelei has star potential and should offer an immediate impact to the Panthers defense, which currently is a bit soft at defensive tackle.

5. Oakland- OLB Barkevious Mingo, LSU

-The Raiders can go in a number of directions here, but adding a top pass rusher makes the most sense. Mingo could be the type of impact player they are looking for on the outside.

6. Philadelphia- OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M

The Eagles should just take value here and be thrilled to land an elite LT. If Jason Peters is back, the Eagles may consider dealing this pick, but it is tough to pass on a talent like Joeckel to stabilize this line going forward. .

7. St. Louis- OT Jake Matthews,Texas A&M

-The Rams need to protect Sam Bradford better, and should start by landing Matthews who is actually underrated given that he happens to play on the same team as the top OT in the draft. Also keep in mind that Jeff Fisher knows full well just how much a Matthews can impact an offense, from his days coaching Bruce in Houston/Tennessee.

8. Tennessee-  DE Bjoren Werner, FSU

-The Titans could look a couple different ways at this pick, but with so much talent at pass rusher it will be tough to pass them up. Werner gives the Titans the top end they need to counter the top quarterbacks in their division.

9. Miami- WR Keenan Allen, Cal

-The Dolphins are woefully short on weapons for their young quarterback and need to make a major push next season.

10. Buffalo-LB Manti Te’o, Notre Dame

This might not be the biggest need for the Bills, but it represents excellent value. Te’o has elite potential and should be a star linebacker for whomever selects him.

11. St. Louis (Washington)- OG Chance Warmack, Alabama

-This is a bit odd taking two offensive linemen in the first round (the 49ers did do it in 2010), but that is how poor the Rams offensive line has been. Adding Matthews and Warmack would be scary in terms of the potential of this line.

12. Arizona- OT Taylor Lewan, Michigan

-Though quarterback remains a major need, nothing can get into the way of fixing this offensive line which has just been awful this season. Lewan would be a huge upgrade and give the Cardinals a great starting piece for this line.

13. New York Jets- QB Matt Barkley, USC

Matt Barkley is sliding down the draft board, but someone is still bound to over draft him. I think that team will probably be the Jets as they  look to replace Mark Sanchez.

14. San Diego- OT Eric Fisher, Central Michigan

-If you wonder why Phillip Rivers numbers have been down the past few seasons, look no further than the struggles of the offensive line. The Chargers need to get serious about fixing the line and that means investing some high picks into the position.

15. Detroit – CB Dee Millner, Alabama

-The Lions secondary has been a mess for a number of years, making this a huge priority. Also Millner is an excellent value here making this a pretty easy selection for the Lions.

16. New Orleans- DE Damontre Moore, Texas A&M

-Moore is flying up draft boards, but in a deep draft may still not go till the middle of the first. He’d be a huge upgrade for the Saints pass rush, and give them a legitimate threat on the edge.
