UK summed up the Week of Responsible Gambling
The main goal of the Responsible Gambling Week was to initiate a national dialogue on the topic of responsible gambling. The main channel of communication has become social networks.
127,000 employees from more than 11,000 gambling areas and online sites of UK and Ireland provided advice to clients and organized charity events.
The campaign on social networks gathered 19.3 million responses on Twitter and Facebook. It was headed by operators from all sectors of the industry, leading football clubs and hippodromes also joined the event.
The English Football League (EFL), sponsored by Sky Bet, supported the event through advertisements that appeared in every match. 72 clubs advertised responsible gambling videos via social networks.
The charity organization GamCare conducted training courses in Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, London and Halle for professionals working with young people and children who are faced with the problem of gambling addiction. In Ireland, the Dunlewey Center conducted a series of lectures on responsible gambling.
The Responsible Gambling Week was organized by the IGRG, which through trade associations includes representatives of online gambling, bingo clubs, bookmakers and casinos. The campaign took place in the UK and Ireland and was supported by the Irish Bookmakers Association, the Irish Entertainment Trade Association and other industry representatives.
John Hagan, Chairman of the IGRG, held an Responsible Gambling Week in the House of Commons, where he outlined the goals of the campaign to deputies. He also moderated a breakfast briefing organized by EGR Compliance, which was attended by over 100 guests. The panel discussion included: Helen Rhodes, Director of the Safe Gambling Department at the Gambling Commission, Anna Hemmings, Executive Director of GamCare, representatives of Sky Bet and William Hill operators, and the event’s sponsor Genius Sports.
