NFL Cuts Back on Celebrations

The league is slowly but surely changing.

In an effort to eliminate taunting from the game, the NFL has decided to crack down on celebrations aimed at opponents. In total, around a dozen, and possibly more, celebrations could now be penalizing offenses at the discretion of the referees. What used to be one of the things that fans and players looked forward to the most during the game will become a thing of the past, or will at least earn a team a penalty going forth if players decide not to abide by these new guidelines.

Some of the things that will be deemed unacceptable are spinning and spiking the ball, sack dances and salutes. A lot of the celebrations will only be penalized if they are done in the field of play (so touchdowns celebrations could still be safe to an extent) and if they are aimed directly at the opposition, which would be considered taunting.

With the new changes on the horizon, one has to wonder if the NFL is starting to stand for the “No Fun League”.
