Blogger Debate: NBA Draft
Thanks to John, Parks & Howard for joining the NBA Draft Blogger Debate this week! Now give your answers about tonight’s Draft:
1. Who will go #2 overall?
PARKS:
It’s hard not to go with Bradley Beal at this point, but I think it ends up being Kansas’ Thomas Robinson at the number two spot to Charlotte.
JOHN:
I think it will be Beal. Cleveland wants him and Charlotte has no reason not to make that trade unless they are sold on him. Which it looks like they are not. Although Jordan probably will try to sneak in 36 holes tomorrow and miss the pick altogether.
HOWARD:
If the pick is traded it will be for MKG because the Cavs at 4 like him. But I think it will be Thomas Robinson.
2. Will the #2 pick be traded? Who’s most likely to trade up?
PARKS:
It would make sense, but I think Michael Jordan and Bobcats have fallen in love with Thomas Robinson and don’t have the stones to sit around and wait to see if he is there at number four. Clearly the Cavaliers are the biggest suitor and Bradley Beal would be a perfect running mate for Kyrie Irving. Basically, I think Jordan and Wizards’ GM Ernie Grunfeld are in a game of chicken right now and I think Jordan pulls out first.
JOHN:
Yes. Cleveland. Only other team to get to 2 would be Portland that has the goods to do it with 6 and 11. Then again, Ernie Grunfeld will probably move 3 and 32 or next years 1 to get to Charlotte’s pick to draft Beal.
HOWARD:
Like I just mentioned I think it may be traded to the Cavs for MKG. Another team can move up to get Beal too.
3. Will Jared Sullinger be picked in the 1st Round?
PARKS:
He’s been dropping like a rock but he’ll definitely stay in the first round. Orlando, Miami, Boston, Cleveland, Denver and Indiana will be looking to add a big man past the number eighteen slot.
JOHN:
Yes. I still think he will be gone by the Celtics in the early 20s. He is worth taking the chance around that pick. Can’t see a guy who was a top 10 talent a week ago falling out of the first round by a report that is questionable about his back.
HOWARD:
I think Sullinger will definitely go in the 1st round (15-25 is what I am hearing.)
4. Will a blockbuster trade involving Dwight Howard be finalized during the Draft?
PARKS:
There has certainly been plenty of chatter with the Lakers and Pau Gasol. And then there is the Rockets trying to acquire every pick possible to trade for Howard. Despite all the noise, I don’t see a deal getting done during the draft. The Rockets will still need to move up more in the draft and it seems like they are running out of current assets. It’ll be interesting to watch.
JOHN:
I want to say yes and I hope its Houston since they are trying hard but think it’s unlikely. Orlando will probably wait and sucker in Billy King and the Nets to get more than enough. Problem is what do the Nets have? Or GM Kobe will finally ok a trade for Bynum.
HOWARD:
No. Dwight Howard won’t be traded during the draft because he will wait for Deron Williams to sign.
5. Who will have the best accessories (Watch, Necklace, Tie or Girlfriend)?
PARKS:
Really? Is this even a question? Anthony Davis’ uni-brow!
JOHN:
The Brow is an easy one. I think this is a pretty tame class. Every scouting report mentions that each player is a “good guy.” Except Chad Ford crushing Austin Rivers, but guessing Doc will have him in check.
Going blind but gonna say Tyler Zeller has a Tannehill-like girlfriend. Where are all the international fools this year? Did they all not enter to get ready for the London Olympics?
HOWARD:
I am going with the NFL Draft trend and going with girl friends (think Tannehill).
